Build and Pursue

Fee Fee Baptist Church exists to make disciples who build their lives on Jesus and pursue the good of our community for the glory of God.

Our mission statement: Fee Fee Baptist Church exists to make disciples who build their lives on Jesus and pursue the good of our community for the glory of God.

We summarize it by saying simple that we exist to “build and pursue.”

So, how do we do that? There are three main facets of this concept of “build and pursue”: biblical worship, biblical community, and biblical mission.

First, we focus on biblical worship (Romans 12:1).  This means that both individually and corporately, we focus on connecting with God and deepening our relationship with him. We have developed different markers for our church to help us know we are worshiping biblically. These markers include:

  • Engaging in Gospel-centered preaching and teaching
  • Growing knowledge of God and his Word
  • Actively Seeking God’s face in prayer
  • Participating in worship through music
  • Giving sacrificially to the church

Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.

Romans 12:1

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.

Acts 2:42

Second, we focus on biblical community (Acts 2:42).  This is connecting with other believers. We have developed markers to ensure that we are practicing biblical community here at FFBC. These markers include:

  • Active engagement in discipleship opportunities
  • Understanding and utilizing your spiritual gifts
  • Gospel-centered fellowship and accountability

Third, we focus biblical mission (2 Corinthians 5:20).  This is connecting with the lost community around us. Some markers we have developed to ensure we are participating in a biblical mission here at Fee Fee include:

  • Awareness of and engaging with everyday opportunities to share the gospel
  • Taking part in local, national, and international missions opportunities
  • Serving the under-resourced in our community
  • Aligning with God’s heart in justice issues

If you look at our logo, you will see it is a bridge.  It is our prayer that every time you look at our logo and think about FFBC, the idea of “build and pursue” with be at the forefront of your mind!

We believe that Fee Fee Baptist Church has been placed in this specific community to make an impact.  We invite you to come and build and pursue with us

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf: “Be reconciled to God.”

2 Corinthians 5:20

How do I follow Christ?

What does it mean to Build my life on Jesus?

Our mission statement at Fee Fee talks about how we need to build our lives on Jesus. Maybe, as you read our mission statement and vision, you have wondered how you start going about building your life on Jesus. Building our lives on Jesus goes beyond simple knowledge about God or the Bible or the church. Building your life on Christ means have a personal relationship with him. You have to make him the cornerstone of your life. The center of all that you do. God desires to know you and have a relationship with you.

But there’s a problem – our sin.  The Bible says in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”.  Sin means missing the mark or anything in our lives that does not honor God.  Anything in our lives that does not live up to his standard.  When we lie to others.  When we act selfishly.  When we are obsessed with material things.  These, and many more, are all sins that cause us to fall short of God’s standard for us.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

Our sin keeps us from a relationship with God and deserves a punishment.  Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death…”.  So what we earn (wages) from our sin is death.  Meaning that our sin causes us to have the punishment of death and being separated eternally from God.

However, the rest of Romans 6:23 has good news for us!  “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  In order to deal with our sin problem, God has given us the gift of His son’s death on the cross.

God gives us this gift because He loves us.  John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.  God loved us so much and didn’t want us to be separated from Him eternally because of our sin.  So he sent His Son to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins so that we could have eternal life and a relationship with God.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

So how do we get this gift of forgiveness of sins and eternal life?  The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”  You do not get the gift by working really hard or by doing enough good things or by being a member of a certain church.  We can never do enough to earn forgiveness and eternal life.  The gift comes by God’s grace through faith in his son Jesus Christ.  It comes by admitting you are a sinner, believing that Jesus Christ is God’s Son who has died on the cross and resurrected from the dead to pay the penalty for your sins, and committing your life to follow Him.

You are not saved because of anything you do but because of what Jesus has done.  However, once when you accept his gift of salvation the Bible calls us to commit our lives to Him.  2 Corinthians 5:15 says “And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”  He calls us to give our lives to follow God.  This means choosing to do what God desires not what makes us happy.
