  • Prime Time – Vol. 61, No. 21

    Greetings from beautiful downtown Branson, MO! I’m enjoying a little getaway before the Amana Colony trip. We have a good group going who confirmed their reservation by October 1. Each of you will be getting an emailed itinerary when I get back, but I can tell you that we will be leaving on Thursday, October 21 at 7:30 a.m. The bus is full and so is my car, so I had to turn away several because of no additional bus driver!

    Our next adventure is Wednesday, November 3. We will have lunch at Cracker Barrel and then go serve from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the St. Louis Area Foodbank. I hope you can join us in pursuing the good of our community!

    Then on November 17, we will be eating at everyone’s favorite place in St. Louis…Zia’s! But before you get to eat, we will go to the History Museum to look at their display on the sounds of St. Louis. It is a display of the music, stars, and history of musicians in St. Louis. I can’t wait to see Tina Turner!

    Invite your friends and neighbors to go with us. It’s a good way to connect with others and bring them to Jesus.

    Backpack Ministry

    One of the more rewarding ministries at Fee Fee Baptist Church is our Backpack Ministry. This ministry provides a bag of easy-prep foods for school-aged children in our school district. We want to make it as easy as possible for these kids to eat a nutritious and filling meal when they aren’t at school. But we can’t do this without you, Church! We need donations of granola bars, snack crackers, macaroni & cheese, fruit cups, applesauce cups, canned pasta, single-serve snacks or meals, and other easy-prep meals. You may leave these items in the Donation Center in the section marked “Backpack Ministry.” Alternatively, you can have these items shipped from any big box store to the church:

  • Devotional Corner – Vol. 61, No. 21

    Taken from Henry T. Blackaby and Richard Blackaby’s “Experiencing God Day By Day”

    “He will be like a refiner and purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver. Then they will present offerings to the LORD in righteousness,” (Malachi 3:3).

    The quality of our worship is not based on our activities but on our character. Churches can mistakenly assume that the better the music, the more impressive the building, and the more eloquent the preaching, the more worshipful the experience will be. Genuine worship, however, originates from within our hearts. If our relationship with God is not healthy, all these things are nothing more than religious pageantry.

    The Levites were the worship leaders of their day. Their task was to offer sacrifices on behalf of the people. God declared that before they could worship Him in righteousness, He would first refine them with His refiner’s fire, purging them of any impurities. Merely being members of the religious profession, having official responsibilities in the temple, and going through the rituals of worship did not guarantee that their religious activities would be acceptable to holy God.

    Today, we tend to look to external things to enhance our worship. The true quality of our worship, however, rests within us. If we have not allowed God to purify us first, our worship will be void of His presence. If we do not have a pure heart, we may give offerings, but they will be unacceptable to God. Attending a religious service will not automatically ensure an encounter with God. If you are not satisfied with the quality of your worship, don’t be too quick to blame your environment. Look first to your own heart. Allow God to refine your heart until it is pleasing to Him, and you will be free to worship God as He intends.

    “I have been very zealous for the Lord God of Hosts,” he replied, “but the Israelites have abandoned Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they’re looking for me to take my life,” (1 Kings 19:14)

    Kingdom work can be challenging! You can give everything you have to God’s service and come away exhausted. This is what happened to Elijah. God had just used Elijah to call down fire from heaven in a spectacular display of divine power. But Elijah’s exhilaration was soon replaced by strenuous work followed by death threats, causing him to flee for his life. Now he was alone, exhausted, and discouraged.

    Again, God came to Elijah. This time, He came not in fire or in a loud, spectacular way, but in a still, small voice. God’s servant was tired, and God brought him comfort. Elijah’s focus had shifted from God to God’s enemies. He had allowed his circumstances to overwhelm him, leaving him disoriented to God and feeling alone. So God encouraged him. God provided Elisha for him as a helper, friend, and companion. God removed Elijah from the activity for a time, so that he could rest and spend time with God. When the nation next saw Elijah, he was rejuvenated and refocused on God and His assignment.

    If you are overwhelmed by kingdom work so that your focus is no longer on God but on all that there is to do, let Him comfort you. Listen to His gentle voice. He will encourage you and provide exactly what you need to prepare you for what comes next. If He needs to remove you from your work for a time, He will. He may place a friend or co-laborer beside you to help carry the load. God knows exactly how to encourage you. Let Him do so.

  • Chi Alpha News – Vol. 61, No. 20

    Youth & Family Trip to Eckert’s Millstadt

    On Saturday, October 16, we will be heading to Eckert’s Farm in Millstadt, Illinois for a great fall day of fun! We will get to the farm at 3:00 p.m. Feel free to either meet us there as a family, or you can meet us at church if you need a ride (we will leave church at 2:15 p.m.). The cost for the event is $10/person, which covers your admission to the farm and your dinner. While there, you can enjoy hayrides, the corn maze, the pumpkin canon, plus the bonfire we reserved! This event is open to the whole family, so we hope you will join us! Your student can sign your family up in the Rafters – the deadline to sign up is Wednesday, October 13. We hope to see you there!

    Summer 2022 Mission Trip

    We are so excited to announce the location of our upcoming Summer 2022 Mission Trip to………Washington DC! The dates of the trip will be June 11-17, 2022, and we will again be partnering with Praying Pelican Missions. For more info on the trip, make sure you come to our Parent Info Meeting on Sunday, October 17 right after the 11:00 a.m. service. We hope you will join us!

  • A Word From Pastor Zach – Vol. 61, No. 20

    Church Family,

    Imagine what God would do if we prayed for our neighbors – by name. These past few Sundays, you have heard about a new initiative, Bless Every Home, our church is undertaking where we can be in united prayer for our neighbors.

    Why pray for neighbors? According to the organization Pray for Every Home, in a typical community–with 100 average neighbors—here’s reality:

    • 7 struggle with depression and thoughts of suicide
    • 7 more abuse or are addicted to drugs or alcohol
    • 14 are crippled with fear and anxiety
    • 60 don’t know Jesus Christ as Savior

    My challenge to you is to get involved! Sign up to be a “Light” in your neighborhood. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in darkness but have the light of life.”

    The Lord planted our church where we are to help our neighbors discover the light of life. So, we are asking each member of our church to consider becoming a Light to their neighbors and living intentional pray-care-share lifestyles.

    Becoming a Light is free and confidential. You’ll receive a map and list of your closest neighbors, along with emails at the frequency of your choice to pray for your next five neighbors that day. When you get a chance, walk or drive by those homes as you pray for them.

    Meals On Wheels

    Meals On Wheels is looking for someone to pick up bread from the St. Louis Bread Co. on the second Saturday night  of each month. Also, we are always looking for Bible Study classes or individuals to contribute to Meals On Wheels.  And a friendly reminder— bagels can be picked up each Sunday morning in the Café Annex.     Mobile Market

    Anyone in the community is welcome to drive through our Mobile Market on the following Mondays from 10:00 a.m. till noon (or whenever we run out of food) to have FREE groceries put in their car!

  • Bible Study Corner – Vol. 61, No. 20

    There is a place for everyone in Bible Study. Classes are on Sundays at 9:45 a.m. and we have many to choose from. Ask Gloria if you would like to get connected: gloria@feefeebc.org.

    We also have Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m., along with exciting studies for our children and youth as well. Get involved! It will transform your life.

    Finally, this is a reminder that we are asking Bible Study groups to do a mission/ministry project to pursue the good of our community each quarter. Let Gloria or Andrew know what you are planning to do and how we can help you if you need help!

  • Prime Time – Vol. 61, No. 20

    Happy Fall y’all! This is my favorite season of the year. I love the cooler weather and the beauty of the trees as they change color. I love to hear the crunch of the leaves as I walk through them along the street. Have you thanked the LORD lately for the beauty of his creation? Make it a habit to end your day by thanking the LORD for 5 good things that happened each day. God loves His people to be thankful!

    On October 11 we will be showing the Sight and Sound Theater’s production of Esther. Sandwiches, chips, and ice cream will be served at 11:00 a.m. followed by the movie. Cost for lunch is $6.

    Get out your calendars and update it with more upcoming events. Invite some friends or those who haven’t been to church for a while to come with you. A personal invitation is very powerful.

    Midweek Activities

    We have begun our new church year for midweek activities, with AWANA for kids from 6:00-7:00 p.m. There is something for ALL ages: Puggles for ages birth-2; Cubbies for age 3 through Pre-K; Sparks and TnT for K-3rd grades; and the new mission-focused program called Kids in Action for 4th and 5th grade LIVEWIRES. And parents, there are Bible Study options for you as well: Men’s Bible Study and Women’s Bible Study. We would love to have you join!

    Trunk or Treat

    Put Trunk or Treat on your calendar for Sunday, October 31, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Be thinking about how you want to be involved: have a decorated trunk to give out candy, help set up and clean up, greet people, or face paint.  Of course, we will be collecting a TON of candy starting October 10 – there will be an area in the Welcome Center to deposit your candy donations. Let’s meet and serve our community on October 31 in the afternoon, then you have the evening free to meet YOUR community of trick-or-treaters!

    Ministry Opportunity

    We are in need of people who are willing to serve their church! We need loving caring workers for preschool care during worship. Please let me know if you can serve our families in this way. As always, thank you for your willing heart to serve.

    Angels for Christmas Presentation

    If your child would like to participate in our Christmas presentation, Angel signup sheets are in the Connection Center. The rehearsals will start on October 10 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. every Sunday afternoon until performance date. Rehearsals will be held at the Dance Factory studio.
