  • Community Connection – Vol. 62, No. 6

As I’m sure most of you have already heard, I have accepted a new job as the Community Resource Coordinator for the St. Louis Area Foodbank. My last Sunday at Fee Fee Baptist Church will be on Sunday, March 27. It took a lot of prayer to get to this point, but I am at peace with this decision knowing this is what God is calling me to do.

I cannot begin to say thank you enough for all that Fee Fee has done for me and my family these past 10 years.  You have been my friends and family. You have watched my daughters grow up and helped point them to Jesus. You have supported me as I took on new positions and more responsibilities within the church. You have challenged me to grow as a person and as a follower of Jesus. You have given me the opportunity to share the love of Jesus with people right here in our neighborhood and all over the world. For all of that, you have my heartfelt appreciation. My family and I will miss you dearly.

My last encouragement to you is to continue to live out the model of Jesus from Mark 10:45 when He said, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” He, being the Son of Man, is showing us the model of how to live: serving others. Jesus spent his life serving others by lovingly teaching them and caring for their needs. That has been my prayer for us at Fee Fee – that we would be a people that model Jesus by serving others.  So please continue to serve those around you.  I am so proud of how much our church has grown in serving people through things like the blood drive, Mobile Market, Impact Week, and missions emphases. My prayer will continue to be that Fee Fee Baptist Church pursues the good of our community for the glory of God!

Thank you, Fee Fee! The Yakel family loves you!

    Praying for Our Missionaries

As we kick off the new year it would be great to continue to pray for our members that are serving throughout the world on the mission field. Take a moment right now as you read this to pray for Darci, Sarah, and the Hackneys as they serve overseas to declare the glory of God!

  • Community Connection – Vol. 61, No. 25

One of my favorite aspects of the Christmas season is the spirit of giving, which holds true at Fee Fee. Multiple groups and individuals have said thanks in different ways over the past few weeks that I wanted to share with you.

Each week at our Mobile Market, it is guaranteed someone will show gratitude to our volunteers. I was especially moved by a woman who came through the line recently who was so appreciative for the food we gave her, when she told us her family didn’t have any food in the house to eat for breakfast that morning. I felt so many emotions as I heard that story and I was so glad that our church continues to support a ministry like Mobile Market to help families like that one. I am heartbroken there are people in our neighborhood who deal with that level of food insecurity. I am also more determined than ever to continue that ministry. We also recently had a homeschool family call me and say they have benefited so much from our Mobile Markets in the past that they would like to come and serve one week. So, this mom and her four kids came to serve alongside us to show their gratitude for the blessing we played a part in providing.

Another expression of thankfulness came from the Girl Scouts. We host multiple Girl Scout troops here at the church through the year. On one night, three different parents come up to me separately to say how truly thankful they were for the church opening its doors allowing them to meet. As the girls were sitting around laughing with each other and learning from their leader, a parent said to me, “I don’t know if we’d be able to meet without the church. Thank you so much.”

We received a thank you card from Drummond Elementary School this past week. Over the years we have partnered with Drummond in many ways to try and be a blessing. Most recently we provided 13 winter coats for kids in their school that didn’t have them, which we do each winter. The card they gave me said, “Thank you so much for the kind donation of coats to our students. Our partnership is very important to us and we value your dedication in helping our students. We wish you a great holiday season!” As one of the social workers handed me the card, she was gushing with thankfulness for all the different ways we have been a blessing to our community.

This is just a small sampling of the various ways we pursue the good of our community. Church, I tell you all this not to boost your ego, but to make sure you know that what we do here makes a difference for the kingdom of God and for our community. You can make a difference too, through living out the Gospel and by showing kindness and generosity this Christmas season to those around you.

    Mobile Markets 2022

We have been partnering with St. Louis Area Foodbank as a temporary Mobile Market site for the past year and a half. This has been such a blessing to our community, and we love getting to be a part of it. That’s why we are so excited that the Foodbank has asked us to become a permanent Mobile Market site starting in January 2022! Really, the only change you’ll notice is they are asking us to do the Mobile Markets only once a month. So, starting in January, our Mobile Markets will be on the second Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m. Our 2022 dates will be: January 10, February 14, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10, November 14, and December 12. We do still have two Mobile Markets left in 2021 on December 6 and 20. All of our Mobile Markets are open to anyone in the community that is in need of free groceries.

I also want to take this time to say a big thank you to all of our church members that have volunteered at our Mobile Markets! This incredible blessing would not be possible without your hard work so thank you for having a servant’s heart and for helping us pursue the good of our community!

    Lottie Moon Christmas Offering

Have you prayed today for our missionaries serving all over the world right now to declare the Gospel? If not, take a moment right now to pause and pray. Our Week of Prayer for International Missions is December 5-12. Join us as we pray each day for different missionaries and people all over the world. This will culminate with our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering on Sunday, December 12. The goal this year is $27,000. All the money goes to support IMB missionaries and their work declaring the Gospel around the world.  You can give in person on Sunday morning, online through the church website, or mail in your check.
