  • Chi Alpha News – Vol. 62, No. 2

    The “Big Game” Watch Party

    On Sunday, February 13, let’s get together and watch football’s two best teams (hopefully the Packers…GO PACK GO!!) duke it out in the final game of the season. The Big Game kicks off at 5:30 p.m., so meet in the Rafters that night at 5:00 p.m.! No party is complete without food, so a massive sub sandwich and drinks will be provided, but families should bring a side dish or a dessert to share! Sign up your family in the Rafters, or by messaging Kyle at kyle@feefeebc.org! Hope to see you all there!

    Parents’ Night Out Fundraiser

    Students can sign up to work at Parents’ Night Out coming up on Friday, February 11 from 4:30-9:00 p.m. to earn money towards their Washington D.C. Mission Trip this summer. Make sure your student signs up in the Rafters, because space to work is limited! Once signed up, Ms. Kathy will contact you with all the details you need.

  • Family Front – Vol. 62, No. 2

    Family Nerf Games

    You have been asking for it and here it is! On Saturday, January 29, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. we are going to fill the gym with a friendly Nerf battle! Bring your own Nerf guns and darts and we will have a great time playing it up! Invite your family and friends to join us! We look forward to seeing you there! Please wear masks, as we will be inside the gym.

    Parent’s Night Out

    Parent’s Night Out will be on Friday, February 11, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. For only $5 per child, your kids can enjoy safe and fun childcare while you have a night out with your beloved! The night will include fun, games, pizza dinner, and even swim for an hour at the Bridgeton Community Center if they are elementary age (K-5). Preschoolers will remain at the church to play; if you would like your preschooler to swim, one parent will need to be present at the pool. Sign-up sheets are out in the Connection Center and reservations are due by February 6.

    Serving Opportunities

    Part of being a Christian is serving. Colossians 3:23-24 says, “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance: for you serve the Lord Christ.” We have needs here for people to plug in and use their gifts to serve. Some of those are in our preschool and children’s areas. Yes, we have a lot of wonderful people that already serve in this area, but it takes many to serve our children and families. Please talk to Kathy if you believe God can use you to serve in our children’s ministry. See Andrew if you would like to serve in other areas. Choose in this new year to actively serve the living God who gave so much for you!

  • Devotional Corner – Vol. 62, No. 2

    Taken from Henry T. Blackaby and Richard Blackaby’s “Experiencing God Day By Day”

    “There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven,” Ecclesiastes 3:1.

    The beauty in the way God designed the four seasons is that, though each one is distinct, they all work together to bring life and growth. Spring is a period of freshness and new life. Summer sees growth and productivity. Autumn is a time for harvesting the rewards of past labors. Winter is the season of dormancy and closure. Each season has its own unique beauty and makes a significant contribution to life.

    Just as God planned seasons in nature, He planned seasons in life as well. Life has its springtime, when we begin new things and look excitedly toward the future.  Summer comes and we work diligently in the heat of the day at all that God has assigned to us. With autumn comes the fruition of things begun at an earlier time in our lives. Winter brings an end to a particular period in our lives. Sometimes winter brings hardship, but we remain hopeful, for another spring is just around the corner!

    In God’s perfect design for our lives, He has planned for times of fruitfulness and activity. He will also build in times of quiet and rest. There will be times when He asks us to remain faithful doing the same work day after day. But there will also be periods of excitement and new beginnings. By God’s grace, we will enjoy seasons of harvesting the fruit of our faithfulness. By God’s grace, we will also overcome the cold winters of heartache and grief, for without winter there would be no spring. Just as it is with the seasons of nature, these seasons in our lives work together to bring about God’s perfect will for each of us.

  • A Word From Pastor Zach – Vol. 62, No. 2

    Church Family,

    One of the most fascinating individuals to study in church history is Martin Luther. On October 31, 1517, Luther nailed “95 Theses” to the door of the church in Wittenburg. Luther wanted to reform the church and was addressing the concerns he had with how the Roman Catholic Church was selling indulgences for forgiveness of sins. Luther was convinced that the main authority for every Christian should be God’s Word. Further, he was convinced that salvation was by grace through faith, alone. This challenge by Luther to get back to God’s Word and to preach and teach that salvation is by faith only without works was a catalyst for the Protestant Reformation.

    Luther wanted to get the truth of the Gospel into the hands of the common German people. He translated the Bible into German and spent the rest of life his teaching and preaching that salvation came by grace through faith.

    Luther fought against any and all teachings of the church that he felt like were adding to Scripture. He was a monk who abandoned the idea of celibacy and actually took a former nun as his wife. He was bold in declaring that you should never add anything to the Gospel.

    For the next few months, we are going to take time studying one of Luther’s favorite books of the Bible, Galatians. In fact, in talking about the book, Martin Luther once said: “The Epistle to the Galatians is my epistle, to which I have wedded myself. It is my Catherine Von Bora.”

    He said he felt like Galatians was as important to him as his wife, Catherine! When the leader of the Protestant Reformation makes a claim like that, it makes me excited to dive into this great book! This book clearly proclaims the Gospel and shows that we are saved by grace, not by works of the law.

    We are calling this study of Galatians, “Jesus + Nothing = Everything.” Do you truly believe that? That Jesus is enough? Paul challenges us throughout Galatians to not add anything to the Gospel. All we need is Jesus! Galatians 2:20 reminds us that it isn’t about us. We have been crucified with Christ, and we no live, but Christ lives in us!

    Paul wrote Galatians to combat false teachers who were trying to add to the Gospel. They were saying that it wasn’t just trusting in Jesus that led to salvation, but you also had to be circumcised and follow different laws. Paul makes sure that the church in Galatia understands that you can’t add anything to the Gospel. He wants us all to see that Jesus + Nothing = Everything!

    Let’s remind ourselves of who Jesus is and what He has done for us as we study this incredible book together! Join me in praying that God speaks to us as we journey through Galatians.

    On the second Monday of every month, we will distribute food starting at 10:00 a.m. People can just pull through our parking lot and have free groceries put in their car, and anyone in the community is welcome!   • Music Musings – Vol. 62, No. 2

    Opportunity for YOU

    Our wonderful handbells will be playing again on Sunday, March 6 in our 8:30 a.m. worship. Rehearsal time has changed to Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. The first rehearsal will be on Tuesday, February 1 in Room 203. Our new project will be directed by Bryan West. You may remember that he played a handbell solo a while back. Bryan holds a wealth of knowledge about handbells and brings years of experience. He has selected a piece that should be fun to play. We will need about three more players to max out on this project.

    I have no doubt that many in our congregation have played handbells in the past, or you have played an instrument that has given you some understanding of reading music. We would love to have you join us! Please respond to Ronna@feefeebc.org or Receptionist@feefeebc.org to be added to the handbell team or if you have any questions.

    Chimes From Crusader Times

    (In considering bells, think about this); Crusaders buried 13 bronze bells near the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem in the 13th Century. They slathered them with animal fat to protect them from rust. The effort was made to protect the bells from a Muslim offensive.

    The bells are being replicated by researchers from Oxford and a German university. These 13th century bells are significant because they are the bells of Bethlehem and a symbol of Nativity. They resonate with a clear pitched chime being struck with knuckles, but unfortunately the clappers have rotted away over the centuries. The artisans hope to replicate the bells and have them played in 2024.  I say – let’s organize a field trip to visit the Jerusalem Museum in 2024!

    We are continuing our partnership with the St. Louis Area Foodbank to provide Mobile Markets for anyone in the community who needs help with groceries.  On the second Monday of every month we will distribute food starting at 10:00 a.m.  People can just pull through our parking lot and have free groceries put in their car, and anyone in the community is welcome!  Our upcoming 2022 dates will be: February 14, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10, November 14, and December 12.  Also, please pass the word along to anyone in your life that you know may benefit from free groceries.

    Church Family,

    I hope you are having a great start to 2022! As we begin this new year, let’s commit to being serious about prayer! Below is a devotion from Charles Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening on prayer:

    Colossians 4:2  Continue in prayer.

    It is interesting to remark how large a portion of Sacred Writ is occupied with the subject of prayer, either in furnishing examples, enforcing precepts, or pronouncing promises. We scarcely open the Bible before we read, “Then began men to call upon the name of the Lord;” and just as we are about to close the volume, the “Amen” of an earnest supplication meets our ear. Instances are plentiful. Here we find a wrestling Jacob–there a Daniel who prayed three times a day–and a David who with all his heart called upon his God. On the mountain we see Elias; in the dungeon Paul and Silas. We have multitudes of commands, and myriads of promises. What does this teach us, but the sacred importance and necessity of prayer? We may be certain that whatever God has made prominent in His Word, He intended to be conspicuous in our lives. If He has said much about prayer, it is because He knows we have much need of it. So deep are our necessities, that until we are in heaven we must not cease to pray. Dost thou want nothing? Then, I fear thou dost not know thy poverty. Hast thou no mercy to ask of God? Then, may the Lord’s mercy show thee thy misery! A prayerless soul is a Christless soul. Prayer is the lisping of the believing infant, the shout of the fighting believer, the requiem of the dying saint falling asleep in Jesus. It is the breath, the watchword, the comfort, the strength, the honor of a Christian. If thou be a child of God, thou wilt seek thy Father’s face, and live in thy Father’s love. Pray that this year thou mayst be holy, humble, zealous, and patient; have closer communion with Christ, and enter oftener into the banqueting-house of His love. Pray that thou mayst be an example and a blessing unto others, and that thou mayst live more to the glory of thy Master. The motto for this year must be, “Continue in prayer.” 

    As we start a new year, I want to encourage you to make prayer a priority. Like this challenge from Spurgeon, we want to be a church that continues in prayer!

    In particular, I want to invite you to be a part of our Prayer Warriors ministry. When you join this ministry, you will receive monthly devotions encouraging you in prayer and also giving you specific requests around our church that you can be taking to the throne of God. In addition, you will be part of our prayer team one Sunday a month. On that Sunday, you commit to be praying for our services.

    If you are interested in being a part of our Prayer Warriors ministry, please contact the church office or Larry Condra, the leader of this ministry. We would love to have you join this vital ministry and make prayer a priority in 2022!

    Wednesday Night Activities

    AWANA, starting January 12, will meet from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. We look forward to having the kids a bit longer and not have to rush through our time together. On that night, please bring school supplies to help teachers at Drummond Elementary to replenish their school supplies for the new year. Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies will also meet until 7:30 p.m.

    Snow Policy Reminder

    Weekday/night activities will be canceled on the days that the Pattonville School District goes to virtual learning due to inclement weather. This includes day and evening activities, including all Wednesday night activities. You may also check the closings on KTVI Channel 2 and KSDK Channel 5 on the TV. For Sunday closings, check the TV channels listed above, Facebook, the Fee Fee App, or the church website.

    Backpack Ministry

    One of the more rewarding ministries at Fee Fee Baptist Church is our Backpack Ministry. This ministry provides a bag of easy-prep foods for school-aged children (K-12) in our school district. We want to make it as easy as possible for these kids to eat a nutritious and filling meal when they aren’t at school. But we can’t do this without you, Church! We need donations of chewy granola bars (no whole nuts), snack crackers, macaroni & cheese, fruit cups, applesauce cups, canned pasta, rice cups, single-serve snacks or meals, and other easy-prep meals. You may leave these items in the Donation Center in the section marked “Backpack Ministry.” Alternatively, you can have these items shipped from any big box store to the church:
