  • Chi Alpha, June 2024, Vol. 64, No. 6

    Chi Alpha wants you! We are looking for one male leader and at least one female leader to go to camp with us. We will be attending MFUGE at Cedarville University July 15th-19th. All expenses will be paid and you will have an awesome week discipling youth.

    The school year is coming to a close! We are kicking off the summer with a barbecue on Wednesday, May 29th at 6pm. There will be food, drinks, and lots of time to fellowship and have fun. Be there and invite friends!

    Join us for Chi Alpha Summer, Wednesday nights starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Rafters. Dates are as follows:  6/19, 6/26, 7/3, 7/10, 7/24 & 8/14. Hope to see you there.

    Alaska Mission Trip Fundraiser

     The Alaska mission team would like to invite you to a car wash on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The cost is your donation.  The team is still working to raise funds for the mission trip coming up later this June.

    National Safety Month

    Did you know June is National Safety Month? You can view Fee Fee’s safety videos on our website at feefeebc.org/safety so you will be prepared in case of emergency situations in our church.

    Mark Your Calendars

    Coming Soon:  We will be collecting school supplies and backpacks for our annual back to school giveaway on August 10.  This is also our annual FREE MARKET so start stockpiling some household treasures and clothing for giveaway to our community. You may also donate items such as paper towels or other  useful everyday household articles.

    Summer concerts – SAVE THE DATES!

    Our summer concerts are fast approaching.  This summer we have scheduled 5 concerts of some of our favorite artists.

    June 9 – TIMOTHY AND HOSANNA NOBLE – (Singing Pianist and Violinist)

    This young couple will present a themed concert , Jesus Changed Everything.

    The concert will feature Timothy , his wife Hosanna, and his sister Amanda..

    Timothy has also invited our choir to join with him in singing some numbers .

    July 7 -THE LESTERS – (Southern Gospel)

    This family started their gospel ministry in 1925 and it has now in2024 endured          to the third, fourth and fifth generations.

    July 14 – DOUG MICKAN

    Doug is a comic ventriloquist with a cast of lovable and unique characters.

    Doug has a heart for ministry and is also an accomplished songwriter and musician.

    July 21 – DR. KRISTINE HARRIS

    Trumpet player extraordinaire of international fame.

    We welcome Kristine back to our concert series. She has always been very well received in her past appearances in our series.

    Aug. 6 – CHARLES GRAHAM – (Music Minister and Gospel Singer)

    Charles is from Dermott, Arkansas where as a child he worked with his family in the cotton fields. Before returning to Dermott, Charles traveled world wide singing concerts and ministering in Europe, Africa and the Americas. His life has been a testimony to his strong faith as he shares fellowship with his community.

    Please plan to attend these concerts which feature a variety of musical and entertainment genres.

    Concerts begin at 6:00 p.m. and run about an hour.  We have a time of refreshment (ice cream! – no less) and fellowship following each concert.

    There is no charge for these concerts, but you will have an opportunity to share a love offering for each ministry.

     

  • Prime Time, June 2024, Vol. 64, No.6

    June is another very busy month for Fee Fee.  We have a trip to the Soda Museum in St. Charles with lunch at Lewis and Clark’s. The cost for the museum is $10.  The bus will leave at 10 am on Friday, June 7.  The museum is the private collection of a local resident, Tom Smith, who has been a soda enthusiast since he was 10 years old.  You’ll see everything from vintage soda dispensers to your favorite soda that got taken off the market!

    On Wednesday, June 26 we will board our busses and head to Springfield, IL.  We will leave at 9 am and return on Thursday early in the evening.  We will stay at a local hotel.  Prices range from $110 to $154.  If you want to share a room, your hotel will cost you half of that amount.  Breakfast is included.  We will spend Wednesday afternoon at the New Salem village and visit other historic sites during the day on Thursday.  This trip will require a lot of walking and will require a deposit.  Please sign up by June 15 so I can plan accordingly.

    The council has also planned the next quarter so put these dates on your calendar:

    Wednesday, July 10 – World’s fair exhibit at the history museum with lunch at

    Joey B’s.

    Monday, July 29 – Tour at Excel Bottling Company in Breese, IL.  Lunch at PJ’s Diner

    Wednesday, August 14 – Moses, Sight and Sound Production movie in the Fee Fee Dining Room at 11 with lunch.  Lunch cost is $7.

    Adult VBS – August 26-29 from 9:30-noon.

    Friday, September 13 –  Pere Marquette State park for the fried chicken family style lunch and then go out to the patio to play some card or board games or go for  walk.

    Thursday, September 26 – Rainbow Ranch in Nashville, IL with lunch at Fletcher’s Kitchen.

     

  • Family Front, June 2024, Vol. 64, No. 6

    Please welcome Joey Stewart as our summer intern working primarily in our children’s ministries. I am excited that he is here to serve this summer!

    VBS – SCUBA, Diving Into Friendship with God, is July 22-26, 2024. If you plan to teach or help or just volunteer in whatever area is needed, please let me know. We also plan to have a volleyball camp in the afternoon of that week. Pray that God will send the Sports Crusaders to lead this. Put this week on your calendar and plan to be involved! Pray for God to send leadership to let our kids know they can have a true friendship and eternal life with God.

    Our Children’s Ministry is still in need of some volunteers to lead KidsZone on the first Sunday of each month and when we have a 5th Sunday. I can provide materials. All you have to do is prepare to lead our kids. I can help with that! We also need help to hostess in preschool during worship. That entails getting snacks for the 2 groups, helping out if a worker is out. Let me know if you are interested in leading with our preschoolers or children.

    We are offering “I’m a Christian Now” class for kids who are awaiting baptism and their parents . We will begin in June. It is a 4 week class we will present during the Bible study hour. If you are interested in your child attending this class, please see me and I will confirm dates and times with you.

    Come Join Our Choir

    There is nothing like a volunteer choir.  Here are some top reasons.

    MOTIVATION – A rare and special dynamic is created among people who don’t have to be there.  Church members show up, week in and week out, out of love.  The only compensation they receive is the joy of being a part of this unique ministry and the joy of making music together.  That is enough to keep them coming back.

    INSPIRATION – The members of a volunteer choir seek opportunity they have to be part of something far greater than the sum of its parts.  You can’t experience the thrill of an ensemble by singing by yourself.  In a church choir, ordinary people can experience the thrill of a text coming to life as they sing an anthem, hymn or psalm.

    FELLOWSHIP – A volunteer choir creates a community unlike any other.  As a choir meets together week in and week out, they “do life” together.  They pray for one another – celebrating births, mourning deaths, welcoming new members, and grieving the departure of good friends.  A healthy choir can be one of the strongest small groups in a congregation.

    LOVE – Love is what makes a volunteer church choir:  love of music, love for each other and especially LOVE OF THE SAVIOR.

    Nothing wil ever replace the volunteer church choir.  Choral music itself will never be a thing of the past.  Why don’t you give our choir a try.  Anyone can be involved multigenerational participation is encouraged as well as varied musical abilities.  Our main purpose is to glorify God with our singing.

    We meet on Monday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the choir room.

  • A Word from your Pastor Search Committee Vol. 64, No. 5

    Your Pastor Search Committee is very excited to be bringing a wonderful young couple in view of a call as our next Pastor and Pastor’s Wife. They will be with us on May 3rd, 4th and 5th. Here is the schedule for the weekend (all sessions will include time for your questions):

    Friday, 5/3 – 6:00 pm – Dinner with deacons, church staff and spouses

    Saturday,  5/4 – 9:30 am – Coffee and donuts in the dining room

    11:30 am – Pizza with children, youth and families in The Rafters

    6:00 pm – Dessert in the dining room

    Sunday 5/5 – 9:15 am – Regular Bible Study

    10:30 am – Worship (candidate will be preaching)

    1:30 pm – Q & A in the Worship Center

    2:00 pm – Special Called Business Meeting in the Worship Center

    This is how the candidate’s resume begins: After prayerful consideration, I have humbly decided to submit my application for Senior Pastor. As a church, you need a pastor with an appreciation for all the Lord has done through you in the past while also possessing the skills to navigate a rapidly shifting cultural climate to position the church to continue fruitful ministry for another 200 years.

    He graduated from Texas A&M University with a double major that provided him with a well-rounded business background and a concentration on management and leadership techniques. This educational background equipped him with the tools needed to effectively cast a vision and lead a group to bring it to fruition—skills God has used in the turnaround of the church he currently serves. He has also earned an MDiv from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas, and has completed all coursework related to his PhD in Evangelism and Church Growth from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

    While attending seminary in Fort Worth, TX, he reconnected with the daughter of the worship pastor from his home church. They dated for two years while she finished her undergraduate and masters degrees at Dallas Baptist University. After a short engagement, they were married in 2021. He says “she is superior to me in every way; I would hire me just to have her in the church”.

    He loves hiking, football, baseball, basketball, disc golf, and a number of other activities but says “Unfortunately, I’m the world’s worst golfer and I’m squeamish at the sight of blood, so the popular activities of golfing and hunting are off the table. Outside of those, I’m open to participating in anything athletic.”

    The Committee would like to thank everyone for all of your continued prayer and support throughout our search for our new pastor.

     

  • Chi Alpha Vol. 64, No. 5

    We have had a great semester, but the school year is coming to an end. Which brings us into our summer activities. Be sure to make note of the following dates.

    May 1st will be starting our Wednesday night Chi Alpha Summer activities! In May, we will meet on the evenings of the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and the 29th.  In June, we will meet on the evenings of the 19th and 26th. July will be the evenings of the 3rd, 10th, and 24th.  And for August we will meet on the 14th.

    We will be playing lots of games, eating good food, and having a summer full of fellowship and fun. Be sure to invite friends and neighbors to these activities.

    We are still looking for more leaders to help disciple our youth. I ask that you prayerfully consider partnering with us in this ministry. Serving can seem intimidating, but we are not looking for perfect teachers. Rather, disciples who love the Lord and what to invest in his children.

    Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” You will not be without proper tools, prayer, and equipping. I want to pour into leaders as they are pouring into the youth. If you are interested or have any questions, please email me at tyler@feefeebc.org

    Red Cross Blood Drive

    The next Red Cross Blood drive is Thursday May 23. Please sign up through our website. It’s such an easy way to save a life!

    Help Needed for Our Ministry with “Loaves and Fishes”

    For several years, Fee Fee Baptist Church has provided a meal for the residents of the Loaves and Fishes emergency shelter on the third Tuesday of the month. We need Bible Study classes, T-groups, families or others to volunteer to provide and deliver those meals. Loaves and Fishes is a wonderful ministry that provides emergency shelter for homeless individuals and families (in addition to a food pantry, utility services and street outreach programs).

    There are sign-up sheets in the Connection Center where you can specify which month you (or your group) will provide the meal (for about 30 people). Please contact Gloria Fox for more information.
