    Kids’ Activities

    Sundays:

    8:30 a.m.                 Worship with family.

    9:45 a.m.                 Bible study (Beginning November 1 for all ages).

    11:00 a.m.               Preschool care and KidsZone for Elementary kids.

    On the 4th Sunday of each month, elementary Kids will worship with family.

    Wednesdays:

    6:00 – 7:00p.m. AWANA Club for kids up to 5th grade.

    Parents’ Night Out on December 4 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. RESERVATIONS WILL BE REQUIRED and due by November 29. Watch for a sign-up form on our website in the coming weeks.

    Family Devotions

    Make it a New Year’s resolution to have Family devotions. Why? It’s God’s command (Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Ephesians 6:4, and Proverbs 22:6)!  Beginning January 1, 2021 we will put some resources into your hands to help you with daily devotional time and to lead your family to Jesus.  But why wait?  We all want to help our children to come to love and believe in the One True God. Setting time aside each day will show our children that God is the center and priority of our lives. If you currently need some devotional materials, your child receives a devotion booklet each month. Preschoolers receive a page each week. That’s a great start!

    “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18).

  • Music Musings – Vol. 60, No. 21

    The Power of Music

    “And Elisha said, “As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you nor see you. But now bring me a musician.” Then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him,” (2 Kings 3:14-15).

    Three kings came to the prophet Elisha asking for God’s help and guidance. Their armies were stuck in the dry desert, facing a thirsty death before they ever got to battle. Elisha had no respect for the kings of Israel, but because of the presence of Jehoshaphat, he agreed to seek God for their need.

    When Elisha sought God for a prophetic word to speak to the three kings, he said, “now bring me a musician.” It was remarkable that when Elisha wanted to become more sensitive to the leading and speaking of the Holy Spirit, he asked for the service of a musician.

    We know that Elisha was annoyed when the king of Israel first approached him on this matter (2 Kings 3:13). Perhaps this troubled his mind and spirit, and he needed some calm awareness of the potential of music. He sought to spiritually build up himself through “psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,” (Colossians 3:16).

    We don’t know the name of the musician, but when the musician played, the hand of the Lord came upon Elisha and he prophesied, bringing a promise of deliverance to the three kings. The musician probably never thought that God would use his music to bring a great spiritual and military victory. Yet the musician did what he could do and God used it, and in at least a small way it helped to change history.

    Our God is a singing God who loves music, (Zephaniah 3:17). We are made in God’s image, so we have a natural attraction to music. We can do ourselves much spiritual good by listening to God-honoring music and by worshiping Him in song. Make use of this great, wonderful, God-given spiritual resource.

    Mobile Food Market

    We love our partnership with the St. Louis Area Food Bank to get free groceries into the hands of families in our community. Upcoming Mobile Market Mondays will be:

  • Bible Study Corner – Vol. 60, No. 21

    All Bible Study classes have the opportunity to resume on Sunday, November 1 at 9:45 a.m.

    I know that some classes will continue to meet on Zoom while others will choose to have in-person Bible Study. If your class is continuing on Zoom, please feel free to ask me where you might join an in-person class.

    If your class decides to meet in person and you don’t feel comfortable coming back just yet, let me know and I will find you a virtual class.

    While it is tricky navigating these changes, we still have and will find a place for everyone. We need to stay in community either virtually or in person around the Living Word of God. Email gloria@feefeebc.org and for a place to plug in.

    RESCHEDULED Vision Casting Night/Family Firepit Night

    As announced a few weeks ago, we were planning on having our Vision Casting Night/Family Fire Pit Night on Friday, October 23. However, due to Pattonville Marching Band having a performance that night, we are choosing to reschedule this event to Friday, November 6. We want as many students and families as possible to be able to attend this important and exciting event, so mark your calendars for our new date! We hope to see you there!

  • Devotional Corner – Vol. 60, No. 21

    Taken from L.B. Cowman’s “Streams in the Desert,” Zondervan Updated Edition

    “All your waves and breakers have swept over me,” (Psalm 42:7).

    Stand firmly in the place where your dear Lord has put you, and do your best there. God sends us trials and tests, and places life before us as a face-to-face opponent. It is through the pounding of a serious conflict that He expects us to grow strong. The tree planted where the fierce winds twist its branches and bend its trunk, often nearly to the point of breaking, is commonly more firmly rooted than a tree growing in a secluded valley where storms never bring any stress or strain.

    The same is true of human life. The strongest and greatest character is grown through hardship.

  • A Word From Pastor Zach – Vol. 60, No. 21

    What does it mean to set your heart on something? I’m not talking about a small desire. I’m talking about the relentless pursuit of something. If you really set your heart on something, it means that you are going to dedicate your time, energy, and passion to making it happen.

    We see people set their hearts on a wide variety of different things. Sometimes it’s all about getting in shape. Currently, there is a lot of focus on getting a certain candidate on one side of the aisle or the other elected. Sometimes it’s a job or promotion. Whatever it is, I believe that humans are innately wired to want more. Because of this desire, we are constantly setting our hearts towards visions or goals and working to see those things come to pass.

    The sad part about it all, is I believe most people set their hearts on things that don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. When our goals are self-focused only, we are probably missing the point. What if we set our hearts on something better than a promotion or a new diet or anything else that doesn’t have eternal ramifications?

    In Ezra 7, verse 10, it says that Ezra devotes himself to study and observe the law of the Lord, and to teach it to Israel. I love this little snippet buried in this Old Testament book because I think it gives us the key to learning how to set our heart on Him who is eternally significant.

    So how do you set your heart on the Lord?

    Obviously it starts with studying the Word. However, what is great about this passage is Ezra doesn’t just study the Word and become an intelligent hypocrite. Besides just studying, secondly he actually observes the law!

    Now Ezra had determined in his heart to study the law of the Lord, obey it, and teach its statutes and ordinances in Israel.

    Ezra 7:10

    Why are Christians so often labeled hypocrites? Because we know the law (study) but we use our knowledge to judge and point out sin. By doing this, we often forget about actually living out what we have learned. The more you study, the more you should see God’s extravagant love and grace for you and this should paint how you interact with others.

    Finally, he doesn’t just study and observe the law, he then teaches it! As he uncovers God’s incredible truth, Ezra doesn’t stay silent about it. He teaches it to others!

    Do you want to live a life that counts? Then you have to set your heart on the Lord. Learn the Word, live the Word, and look for every opportunity to share its truth with others!

    Let’s pray that we all set our hearts on the Lord, church!

  • Community Connection – Vol. 60, No. 21

    Backpack Ministry Restarting

    With Pattonville schools starting in-person learning we are restarting our Backpack Ministry. Drop your food donations off at the church to help provide weekend meals for some Pattonville students. Recommended donations are: cereal bars, oatmeal packs, Pop Tarts, granola bars, mini muffins, fruit cups, peanut butter, jelly, mac and cheese, cans of chicken or tuna, hearty soups, cheese crackers, peanut butter crackers, chili, meat sticks, applesauce, Rice-a-Roni, Spaghetti-Os or canned ravioli, canned pasta sauce and pasta noodles. Thank you for your willingness to give!

    Operation Christmas Child

    The Operation Christmas Child boxes will be available on Wednesday, October 21! Every year thousands of boxes filled with Christmas gifts are sent to children all over the world through Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child boxes. This is an opportunity to bless kids in need with presents and the Gospel. Make sure to pick up your box (or 2 or more), fill it, and bring it back by Wednesday, November 18. You can also support this effort by donating the $9.00 cost per box for shipping.

    Dominican Republic Mission Trip

    We are taking a team to serve in the Dominican Republic next summer, July 10-16! If you missed our informational meeting but are interested in serving on the trip contact Andrew (andrew@feefeebc.org) and he will get you all the details. Remember the application and deposit are due by Sunday, November 15.

    “He opened not his mouth,” (Isaiah 53:7).

    How much grace it requires to bear a misunderstanding rightly, and to receive an unkind judgment in holy sweetness! Nothing tests the Christian character more than to have some evil thing said about him. This is the file that soon proves whether we are electro-plate or solid gold. If we could only know the blessings that lie hidden in our trials we would say like David, when Shimei cursed him, “Let him curse;… it may be… that the Lord will requite me good for his cursing this day.”

    Some people get easily turned aside from the grandeur of their life-work by pursuing their own grievances and enemies, until their life gets turned into one little petty whirl of warfare. It is like a nest of hornets. You may disperse the hornets, but you will probably get terribly stung, and get nothing for your pains, for even their honey is not worth a search.

    We currently have three groups meeting for Bible Study on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m., in compliance with the St. Louis county mandate for gathering size. We hope you are involved in either an in-person or virtual Bible study each week. We also have groups meeting on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. These opportunities are on the church website or contact Gloria at gloria@feefeebc.org.
