    Help Needed for Our Ministry with “Loaves and Fishes”

    For several years, Fee Fee Baptist Church has provided a meal for the residents of the Loaves and Fishes emergency shelter on the third Tuesday of the month. We need Bible Study classes, T-groups, families or others to volunteer to provide and deliver those meals. Loaves and Fishes is a wonderful ministry that provides emergency shelter for homeless individuals and families (in addition to a food pantry, utility services and street outreach programs).

    There are sign-up sheets in the Connection Center where you can specify which month you (or your group) will provide the meal (for about 30 people). Please contact Gloria Fox for more information.

     Alaska Mission Trip Fundraiser

    The Alaska mission team would like to invite you to a car wash on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The cost is your donation.  The team is still working to raise funds for the mission trip this June. We thank you for all your support at the Bandana’s fund raisers in February and April.

    Legacy Banquet

    While the banquet has traditionally been for the Prime Timers, every adult is welcome. Join us for some fun and great music on Saturday night, May 11 at 6 pm. Sign up in the connection center so we can plan for the right amount of food. You will be glad you did.

  • Prime Time Vol. 64, No.5

    Hope you are enjoying spring. We have some fun activities planned for you in May.

    Sign up for the Legacy Banquet on Saturday night, May 11. It will begin with a fabulous dinner at 6 and transition it to the “Songs of our Life”. I promise you a great time of friends, food and fellowship. The cost is only $15 per person. Hope to see you there. Bring some friends but don’t forget to sign up so we have enough food!

    On Thursday, May 30 we have a change. The previously announced farm visit has been changed to a trip to Kimswick and the Blue Owl for lunch and shopping. The bus will leave church at 10 am. Come eat some mile high pie and other great food and walk off your meal while shopping for a while.

     

  • Bible Study Corner Vol. 64, No. 5

    There is a place for everyone in Bible study on Sunday morning at 9:15. Our First Impressions team can help you find a great class when you meet them in the welcome center.

    Awanas is over until next fall but the women’s class and Derald’s class will continue until May 15th on Wednesday nights at 6. Derald meets in room B1 and the women meet in the fellowship hall (the big room below the chapel) Hope to see you in Bible study.

    Finally, if anyone is interested in starting up or joining a small group or Transformation group, please let Gloria know. I would love to see some small groups getting started again. We do have a small group that meets at church every other Thursday morning at 10 am, a Bible study that meets on Tuesday at 10 am and some T-groups that could use another participant or 2. Let Gloria know if you are interested.

     

  • Chi Alpha Vol. 64, No. 4

    The youth just wrapped up our Wednesday night and Sunday morning series.

    On Wednesdays we were going through the I am statements of Jesus. Discussing who Jesus is, and what He did, and what He will continue to do.

    On Sundays we were doing a series called Real Faith. Exploring topics like real faith is life changing and real faith is confident faith, all from the book of Luke. We are looking forward to dive back into the Bible and learn more from Gods inspired word.

    We are still looking for more leaders to help disciple our youth. I ask that you prayerfully consider partnering with us in this ministry. Serving can seem intimidating, but we are not looking for perfect teachers. Rather, disciples who love the Lord and what to invest in his children.

    Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” You will not be without proper tools, prayer, and equipping. I want to pour into leaders as they are pouring into the youth. If you are interested or have any questions, please email me at tyler@feefeebc.org

     

  • Announcements Vol. 64, No.4

    Sunday Night Connection

    The connection this month will be on Sunday, April 7.  We hope you will invite friends and neighbors to our Rotten Egg Hunt.  While we are not really hiding left over eggs from Easter.  You will recognize a rotten egg when you find one.  Kids who find one of our rotten eggs will get a little extra prize besides the candy inside every egg.  Bring your kids, your grandkids, your neighbor’s kids and your neighbor’s grandkids for a fun night of connection.  We will have some firepits and smore’s too.  If the weather is not cooperating, we will hide the eggs in the gym.  We don’t want them to get even more rotten!  We will gather at 5 pm and start the hunt pretty quickly after that.  Bring a lawn chair if the weather is good to sit around the firepit and connect with someone you don’t know at this multigenerational gathering.

    Alaska Mission Trip Fundraiser

    Join us on Tuesday, April 2 and have some lunch or dinner at the Bandana’s on Dorsett. Bring your Fee Fee flyer from the Connection Center and 15% of the day’s proceeds will go to the Alaska Mission trip in June. See you there!

  • Bible Study Corner Vol. 64, No. 4

    Invite someone to come with you to Bible Study this month.  It’s a great place to get to know others in the church, pray, and help each other.  Build relationships with other Christians as you build your relationship with God.  There are Bible studies for all ages on Sunday at 9:15.  If you are interested in joining or starting a small group or T-group, tell Gloria and she will find a place for you.

    Wednesday night studies for all ages begin at 6 pm. There is something for everyone. Even the youngest will find a place in Puggles!

  • Music Musings Vol. 64, No. 4

    Focus on a Popular Worship Song

    Billboard’s Hot Christian Song Chart currently features the inspirational song “Holy Forever.” This worship song, written by Chris Tomlin, invites us to lift our eyes and immerse ourselves in the awe-inspiring splendor of the King of Kings as we ponder the magnificence of God’s glory.  The song’s inspiration comes from Revelation 5:13 which declares “To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb, be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever.”

    Easter Hymn

    The title of this familiar old hymn is “In the Garden.”  In the words of its author, C. Austin Mills, “Easter is not limited to a happening almost 2000 years ago, but it is a daily companionship with the Savior that makes up the Christian’s daily walk.

    Here is the story behind the writing of the hymn in Miles’s own words.

    “One day in March 1912, I was seated in the darkroom where I kept my photographic equipment. I then experienced a vision where I saw and heard Mary Magdalene crying outside the tomb.  I became a silent witness to that dramatic moment in Mary’s life, when we knelt before her Lord and cried ‘Rabboni.’”  Under the inspiration, I wrote as quickly as the words could form the poem that I later set to music. The hymn is a great reminder that the Lord will care for us as we journey through this life.

     

  • Family Front Vol. 64, No. 4

    VBS – SCUBA, Diving Into Friendship with God, is July 22-26, 2024. If you plan to teach or help or just volunteer in whatever area is needed, please let me know. We also plan to have a volleyball camp in the afternoon of that week. Pray that God will send the Sports Crusaders to lead this. Put this week on your calendar and plan to be involved! Pray for God to send leadership to let our kids know they can have a true friendship and eternal life with God.

    The next Sunday Night Family Connection is April 7.  These are a fun way to get to know your church family better and have some fun together. We had a blast playing games on March 10! Listen for more info on what will be our fun activity that evening….I think it has something to do with eggs.

    Our Children’s Ministry is still in need of some volunteers to lead KidsZone on the first Sunday of each month and when we have a 5th Sunday. I can provide materials. All you have to do is prepare to lead our kids. I can help with that! Let me know if you are interested in leading children on 1 Sunday a month.

  • A Word from Interim Pastor, Matt Easter, 64, No. 4

    Easter has come and gone (at least it has for Protestants and Roman Catholics; Easter is May 5 this year for the Orthodox church). But, before we move too far past the celebration, I’d like to circle back and dive into an aspect of the Easter story we often overlook: the burial. The early church proclaimed not only the death and resurrection of Jesus, but also his burial. In fact, the earliest confessions of Jesus contain explicit references to his burial. Even though the Gospels recount the life of Jesus, most scholars agree that the letters of Paul were written before the Gospels were recorded. Likely the earliest confession of Jesus is found in 1 Corinthians 15:3-7, where Paul “hands on” to the Corinthian believers what “he had received” (15:3a). The language of “handing on” and “receiving” are typical of passing on an oral tradition. In other words, Paul is telling us that what follows in 1 Cor 15:3b-7 is what believers prior to Paul were saying. These earliest Christians were confessing “that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures…” (15:3-4). Later Christians clearly saw the importance of his burial, as his burial shows up in both the Apostles’ and the Nicene creeds. Even the famous “Lord I Lift Your Name on High” popular praise song from the 1990s celebrates Jesus “from the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky.”

     

    Why did the earliest Christians mention Jesus’ burial, and later Christians add it to the ecumenical creeds? Why did “the grave” feature prominently in one of the most popular praise songs? Beyond the historical fact of Jesus’ actual death, burial, and resurrection, the recurrent emphasis on the grave speaks to Jesus’ sharing in our human condition. Jesus “had to become like his brothers and sisters in every respect” (Heb 2:17), which includes both his ontological humanity (“sharing in flesh and blood;” Heb 2:14) and his subjective experience of the human condition (“tested as we are, yet without sin”; Heb 4:15). As the fourth-century Cappadocian theologian Gregory of Nyssa notes, Jesus had to be united to every phase of the human story to redeem humanity. As Gregory explains, a person laundering a garment does not remove only a few stains but tries to clean the entire garment from top to bottom to achieve uniform brightness and cleanliness. In the same way, human life is stained with sin from beginning to end: from birth to death. It would be irrational to cleanse one end while ignoring the other. Therefore, Christ had to assume flesh through birth and be obedient to death in order to heal humanity. In the burial of our Messiah, we see God himself participate in the human condition. We can face the grave with confidence because the fully divine and fully human Christ died, was buried, and rose again.

  • Prime Time Vol. 64, No.4

    I’m already thinking about the dessert I’m going to order at Josephine’s on Monday, April 8.  The bus will leave church at 10 am.  We will eat lunch and then there will be some time for shopping or sitting on a bench outside in the sunshine!  You can look at their menu online at https://www.josephinesltd.online/menu

    On Thursday, April 25 at 10:30 am, we will go to Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate.  We will eat lunch at Guido’s first and then do the tour of the Chocolate Factory at 1:30 pm.  This may get us back to church a little later than usual because the tour will not be over until 2:30.  The tour will take us down onto the factory floor where we can see, hear, smell and taste chocolates.  We will even get to see the candy makers hand making some of the chocolates.  Then you can buy chocolate in their store.

    I also want to invite you to the Legacy Banquet on Saturday night, May 11 from 6 – 8pm. Join us for a delicious meal, a photo booth, a brief devotional, and our own singers doing some 50’s, 60’s and 70’s music.  The meal will be a little less formal this year since we don’t have a church hostess but I know the cook and it just might be some of the best food you have ever eaten!  The cost for the meal and a night of entertainment is $15.  Encourage your friends who have never been to join us at this fun night.
