    Fellowship Beyond the Algorithm

     We live in an age where our phones can predict what we want to see before we even search for it. Social media algorithms are designed to keep us scrolling, curating content that matches our preferences and opinions. But while these platforms can give us a sense of connection, they often isolate us in echo chambers. We end up surrounded by people who think like us, talk like us, and vote like us—rarely challenged, rarely stretched, and rarely known.

    This is why in-person fellowship matters more than ever. When we gather face-to-face, whether in worship, small groups, or over a meal, we can’t filter each other out with a swipe. We encounter the fullness of the body of Christ—different ages, backgrounds, and perspectives woven together by the gospel. Proverbs 27:17 reminds us, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” That sharpening doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens in real relationships.

    The church is called to be more than a reflection of our preferences. It is a family redeemed by Christ, where differences aren’t threats but opportunities for grace. In a world shaped by algorithms, true fellowship reminds us that God’s design for community is bigger, deeper, and better.

    Opportunities to Serve

    Christmas choir and angel rehearsals have begun and are going very well. However there are still many ways you can be involved with our Christmas presentations December 6th and 7th at 3 p.m.  We will have need for the following volunteers:

    Greeters

    Greeters at the doors and greeters for guest musicians

    Stage Hands

    To set up props for Children’s Nativity in addition to Stage Presentation including votive lantern placement and setting up for Manger Scenes.

    Child Supervision

    Especially for Children’s Nativity and as Angel Managers.

    Assistance with Orchestra Set-up

    Stands, lights and chairs

    Technicians

    Sound and Lighting (Including spotlight operators and running of screens)

    Assistance with costuming

    Especially Children’s Nativity and Angels

    Characters for the Nativity

    Let us know of your desire to represent any of the traditional characters of the              Nativity.

  • Bible Study & Outreach, Vol. 65, No. 10, October 2025

    Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

    Studying the Bible helps individuals to develop a stronger connection with God, gain wisdom for life’s challenges, and find comfort and hope in difficult times.

    Come join us in one of our many Bible Studies.

    Sunday morning from 9:15 – 10:15, we offer small groups for all ages

    Wednesday nights from 6- 7:30 we have groups for all age children, youth, and young adults (The Young Adult Collective). We also offer prayer and Bible study with Pastor Britton and Women’s Bible Study.

    On Wednesday morning on Facebook live we have a through the Bible study at 9:00 a.m. which you can watch live or watch on our Facebook page at any time.

    On Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. we have a Bible study in room B3.

    Finally we have 2 small groups that meet during the week. If you are interested in joining any of these Bible studies but don’t know where to go, talk to Gloria.

    Outreach

     Our next big outreach event is Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 19.  We need your help to make this a success and have an impact on our community.  We need many of you to bring your cars, decorate your trunk, and bring candy to hand out.  We need more volunteers to run games and interact with the children and their families in the gym.  Finally, we will need volunteers to walk around and connect with families. If you can’t serve in any of these ways on that date, we need you to bring candy.  Thanks in advance for helping us share the love of Jesus.

     

     

  • Prime Time, Vol. 65, No. 10, October 2025

    We had a lovely Breakfast in the Park September 8; beautiful weather and great food.

    Fall is such a beautiful time of year. Your Senior Adults are out and about in fellowship and ministry and, almost always, great food! October, November, December events:

               October 6 – Omnimax theater and lunch (movie TBD) leave at 10am

               October 15 – Feed My Starving Children MobilePack event. Leave church at 2pm            and return by 5:30. There are jobs for those who cannot stand. We have spots for 20 people at this time slot. If you want to know more check this out at

    October 22 – Lone Elk Park and lunch (leave at 10am)

    November 14, 9pm – “White Christmas musical by Missouri Baptist University

    Students including lunch. Tickets are $25 due Nov. 2 to Kathy, Bus will leave at 8am from church.

    November 12 – Pere Marquette Lodge/lunch, leave at 10am

    December– see the lights and a ministry project (dates TBD)

    On most outings, we usually return between 2-3pm.

    If you haven’t participated in any event with this group, it’s time for you to check this out; and, of course, bring a friend. We always want to be in the business of inviting friends to be part of this great fellowship at Fee Fee Baptist Church!

    We have also thrown out lots of ideas of things to do in the new year so come on and join us!

    Fixating on Christ’s Return

    As Evangelical Christians, we love the cross. We sing about the cross. We hang crosses on our walls. We wear crosses around our necks. We love the cross—and for good reason! The cross is where the wrath of God was satisfied by Jesus’s sacrificial death. It’s where our sins were covered and peace with God was made available to us. We would not be able to live if Christ had not died on that “old rugged cross.”

    We also love the empty tomb. We may talk about it less frequently than we do the cross, but we love to celebrate Easter—again, for good reason! Jesus’s resurrection proved the effectiveness of his sacrifice. His resurrection serves as a beautiful testimony of what’s to come for those who trust in him. The empty tomb mocks Satan and his demons for thinking they could silence the King by killing him on a cross. Without the empty tomb, our faith is worthless.

    The early church loved the cross. They also loved the resurrection. But there’s one event that shows up more often in their writings than those two: Jesus’s second coming.

    We talk about the return of Christ, but often only out of fascination in the details—when he might return, how to correctly interpret Revelation, what the days and months leading up to the return might look like. The early church, on the other hand, clung to the hope of Christ’s return. They eagerly awaited the day when their suffering and persecution would end, when God would deal with the wickedness of the world, and when they would receive the fullness of their inheritance.

    I firmly believe we need to re-capture this fixation on Christ’s return. For centuries, it has been relatively easy to be a Christian in the United States. And in that ease, we have busied ourselves with activity in this life, often losing sight of the kingdom that awaits us. We have lived somewhat removed from the fullest extent of this world’s evil, so we have not yet had to cling to the second coming as our source of daily hope.

    I praise God for the Christian influence that has shaped the United States for centuries—but I also know it will not last forever. In that realization, I find comfort in the return of Christ. When the world is dark, know the fullness of the light of Christ is just beyond the horizon. Let’s fixate on that day, eagerly awaiting its arrival.

  • Music Musings, Vol. 65, No. 9, September 2025

    Christmas Choir

    Rehearsals are getting under way Labor Day weekend for our Christmas music program which will be presented on Dec, 6 & 7.

    Everyone is invited to come and check us out.  No audition is required for participation.  If you can commit, you will be assigned music and given a rehearsal schedule.  We will be listening and reading through the music.

    We are hoping for many singers to join us.  As always singers do not have to be regular members of our choir or even members of Fee Fee.  We welcome singers of all ages and ethnicities.

    Again, performances will be on Dec. 6 & 7.  Start time for each will be 3:00 p.m.

    Please plan to attend rehearsals Sunday afternoons  at 3:30 p.m.  Bring a friend with you.

    Modeling the Kingdom

               I would have loved to witness the ministry of Jesus in person. Crowds of blind, crippled, and seriously ill people pressing around him, experiencing profound life transformation as he opens their eyes and heals their diseases. Demonized (I like this term better than “demon-possessed”) men, women, and children experience freedom as their tormentors flee from the power of the King. The hungry receive food. The reviled feel love. The downtrodden find hope. What a joy it would be to experience that ministry firsthand!

    And the good news is—we will! When Christ returns and we enter into the fullness of the kingdom of God, we will see the redemptive power of Jesus restore everything that’s broken. Injuries and illnesses? Gone. Demonization and spiritual warfare? A relic of the past. Hunger, loneliness, and hopelessness? Solved. As we look forward to that day, we can’t help but say with thousands of Christians before us, “Come, Lord Jesus!”

    But in the meantime, we can also see glimpses of this coming kingdom through the church. We are people who have already been redeemed—people who have already become part of God’s kingdom. We know the forgiveness, hope, peace, joy, and love that he offers. And when we gather as a group of redeemed people, the result should be a church that looks a lot like the kingdom of God.

    Then, after we gather together, we scatter to various parts of the community to model the kingdom there. We showcase the lack of poverty in the kingdom by meeting other people’s needs. We display the love of the kingdom by becoming genuinely invested in the lives of the people around us. With our words and behaviors, we paint a picture of the coming kingdom of God to the people we interact with every week. And then, when we present the gospel, we invite those around us to join that coming kingdom.

    While we have the opportunity to model the kingdom of God to our community every day, we are setting aside extra time, energy, and resources to model the kingdom to our community on Saturday, September 13th. Will you join us as we take time to serve our community? Whatever your age and abilities, we will find opportunities for you to model the kingdom to people in our community. We hope to see you there!

    Better Together: The beauty of multigenerational ministry

     In a world that often segments people by age, the church has a beautiful opportunity: to bridge the gap between generations. Multi-generational ministry isn’t just a nice idea; it’s a biblical model and a rich blessing. For our adult and senior adult members, your involvement with young adults is not only valuable, it’s transformative.

    When generations come together, wisdom is shared, faith is passed on, and relationships flourish. Younger believers gain mentors who have walked the road of faith before them, while older generations find renewed purpose and joy in guiding and encouraging the next wave of the church.

    Let’s embrace the richness of multi-generational connections. Your stories, your faith, and your friendship can help shape a vibrant, faithful future. After all, we’re all part of God’s family—learning and growing better together.

    All Wednesday night Bible studies will resume on 9/10 at 6 pm.  We have something for everyone.

    Children will have Awanas and Mission groups.

    Youth will be involved in small groups

    The Young Adult Collective will have Bible Study

    Pastor Britton will lead a Bible study for adults

    Women will be studying A Jesus Shaped Life with Lisa Harper

    I am very excited to begin my new position as Director of Senior Adults and Care Ministries. I met in August with the Senior Adult Council to plan for October, November, December events. If you haven’t participated in any event with this group, it’s time for you to check this out; and, of course, bring a friend. We always want to be in the business of inviting friends to be part of this great fellowship at Fee Fee Baptist Church!
