  • Prime Time – Vol. 61, No. 12

    Our next event is at the church on Tuesday, June 22 at 11:30 a.m. We will have sandwiches and dessert in the Dining Room followed by the movie, Ruby Bridges. This movie is the “true story of one little girl whose strength and dignity during the racially charged 1960s helped changed history.” The cost for lunch is $6.00.

    The senior council met a few weeks ago and planned activities for July, August, and September. I still need to verify all the dates, but I can promise you a Saturday evening of games, watermelon, and homemade ice cream; a trip to the Churchill Museum in Fulton; guest speakers; a trip to Casey, Illinois; and the Amana Colonies. Details will be in the next Forerunner.  For now, put these two July events on your calendar:

    • Saturday, July 10 at 6:00 p.m. we will enjoy homemade ice cream, watermelon, and games! Bring your favorite game and we will provide the food! Cost is $5.00.
    • Monday, July 26 at 9:00 a.m. we will leave for a day at the Churchill Museum in Fulton. Cost for the Museum is $9.00, $3.00 for bus ride, and buy your own lunch.

    Are you having a great start to the summer? Hope you are getting back into the habit of coming to church and Bible Study each week. It is so good to be connected in corporate worship and studying together. In keeping with our mission of building our lives on Jesus and pursuing the good of your community, I hope your class is finding ways to minister in our church and community.

  • Devotional Corner – Vol. 61, No. 12

    Taken from L.B. Cowman’s “Streams in the Desert,” Zondervan Updated Edition

    “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose,” (Romans 8:28).

    What a tremendous claim Paul makes in this verse! He does not say, “We know that in some things,” “most things,” or even “joyful things” but “ALL things.” This promise spans from the very smallest detail of life to the most important, and from the most humbling of daily tasks to God’s greatest works of grace performed during a crises.

    Paul states this in the present tense: “God works.” He does not say, “worked” or “will work.”  It is a continuing operation.

    We also know from Scripture that God’s “justice  [is] like the great deep” (Ps. 36:6); at this very moment the angels in heaven , as they watch with folded wings the development of God’s great plan, are undoubtedly proclaiming, “The LORD is righteous in all His ways and loving toward all He has made” (Ps. 145:17).

    Then when God orchestrates “all things…for the good,” it is a beautiful blending. He requires many different colors, which individually may be quite drab, to weave into the harmonious pattern.

    Separate tones, notes, and even discords are required to compose melodious musical anthems; a piece of machinery requires many separate wheels, parts, and connections. Once part from a machine may be useless, or one note from an anthem may never be considered beautiful, but taken together, combined, and completed, they lead to perfect balance and harmony.

    Upcoming Mobile Markets Schedule Changes

    Our schedule has slightly changed, so make sure to mark these dates on your calendar. Our upcoming Mobile Markets will be June 28, July 19, and August 2, 16, and 30.  Anyone in the community is welcome to drive through our parking lot those days from 10:00 a.m. until noon (or whenever we run out of food) to have FREE groceries put in their car!

    Blood Drive, July 14

    Our next Blood Drive with the American Red Cross is on Wednesday, July 14 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. It is recommended that all donations be scheduled ahead of time. Simply go to our site, https://feefeebc.org/blooddrive/, click on the Register Here link, and schedule your donation. You can also call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767). The drive will be held in the Family Life Center, and everyone donating can drive around to the back of the church and park in the lot by the gym and enter through the gym doors. On the blood drive page on the church website you can find some helpful info about donating, including who can donate and how to donate.     Free Market, August 7

    If you have been doing spring cleaning, I hope you have held onto some good things that you can give away during our Free Market this summer on Saturday, August 7. The Free Market is our annual “garage sale” but everything is FREE! Church members can give away their new or lightly used items at this event. So as you are going through your house and see the things that you don’t really use or need anymore, hold onto them for our Free Market.

  • Chi Alpha News – Vol. 61, No. 11

    DNOW Registration is Open!! – DNOW is back this summer and we are so excited for what God has in store for our students this summer. Our theme for the 2021 is “No Filter,” and we will be learning how God has designed us to stand out, and not to be living how the world tells us we should. DNOW will take place July 23-25, and will be a weekend filled with music, games, fellowship, service projects, and the chance to build a great community with other students. The cost for the weekend is $40. A $10 deposit will be due by the registration deadline of July 11. You can register by filling out the form in The Rafters or on our website at dnow.feefeebc.org. We hope you will join us for this amazing weekend and invite your friends!

    Ministry Opportunity

    Have you ever wanted to be a part of a short-term mission team? Well, we have an opportunity right in our backyard! Family Retreat, a camp hosted by Joni & Friends, is in need of some enthusiastic volunteers for the upcoming event at Timber Lakes Camp in Williamsburg, Kansas, July 2-6 (training on July 1). The fundamental role at camp is to share Jesus’s love with people who often go unseen. The main qualification they look for in a short-term missionary (STM) is a desire to be a friend and share Jesus’s love, and all ages are welcome! No prior experience with disability is necessary and all STMs are trained before families arrive. Some STMs are carefully paired with a camper as buddies for the duration of camp. They cheer their camper on, eat meals with them, attend camp activities with them and serve them, enabling the camper’s parents and siblings to rest and receive ministry specific to their needs. Some additional volunteer roles that are needed are: teachers/small group leader for adults with disabilities, craft teacher, games leader, certified lifeguards, nursery teacher, camp doctor/nurse, photographer, worship leader, youth/high school teacher, golf cart drivers, setup team, sensory room, adult male to help with youth male’s hygiene needs. If you are interested in taking part in this amazing opportunity to serve, the cost is $325 for volunteers (scholarships and fundraising links are available!!) visit the Joni & Friends website to sign up!

     

  • Prime Time – Vol. 61, No. 11

    I hope you will join us on Friday, June 11 for our trip to the Missouri National Veterans Museum and Memorial. The bus will leave at 10:00 a.m. First, we will eat at Stonie’s Sausage Shop and then head over to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the museum. We should be back at church about 4:30 or 5:00 p.m.

    The next event in June is lunch and the movie, Ruby Bridges. This is the story of one family’s bravery in the face of desegregation in the south in 1960. Ruby was 6 years old when she entered an all-white school accompanied by her mother and armed Federal Marshals. Our lunch will include sandwiches and dessert. The cost is $6 for lunch. The movie is free!!

    The council has some great events planned for the next quarter! We will go to the Arch; Casey, Illinois; the Churchill Museum; and do an overnight trip to the Amana Colonies. Details and dates will be in the next issue of the Forerunner.

    Hope you all are challenging yourself to build your life on Jesus by reading through the book of Isaiah with us. There is a lot of God’s judgement, but it always promises the hope of the coming Messiah.

  • Devotional Corner – Vol. 61, No. 11

    “All that night the LORD drove the sea back,” (Exodus 14:21).

    There is a comforting message showing how God works during darkness. The real work of God for the children of Israel did not happen when they awoke that morning to find they could cross the Red Sea, but it occurred “all that night.”

    There may be a great work occurring in your life when things seems their darkest. You may see no evidence yet, but God is at work. God was just as much at work “all that night” as He was the next day when the Israelites finally saw the evidence. The next day simply revealed what God had done during the night.

    Are you reading this from a place in your life where everything seems dark? Do you have faith to see but are still not seeing?

    “All that night the LORD drove the sea back.” Don’t forget—it was “all that night.” God works through the night until the morning light dawns. You may not see it yet, but through the night of your life, as you trust Him, He works.  —C.H.P.

  • Family Front – Vol. 61, No. 11

    Preschool Care Needed

    You should see the smiles on kids’ faces when they come to play with their friends at church! A few are even sad to leave our church when it is time to go home! Do you want to be part of caring for these little ones? If you can give your time to care for preschoolers during one worship service each month, please contact Kathy (kathy@feefeebc.org). We need you! You will be doing a great service for our families and for your church!

    VBS Wilderness Escape, July 26-30, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

    We still have a few unique spots open for God to use you to help kids to see how God guides and provides. If you are interested in volunteering, email Kathy at kathy@feefeebc.org or call the church office. Lots of hands are needed for a successful VBS; sign up today! And please pray for the volunteers and kids as all the details fall into place.

    VBS Supplies Donation slips will be available on Sunday. You can either donate or purchase the item(s) on the slip of paper and return by July 5. We will be using A LOT of newspaper. So if you have any old newspapers, please bring them to me and we will put them to good use! You can drop them off at the VBS sign up area.

    Sports Crusaders Basketball Camp, July 26-30, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

    In 2019, 4 children came to know Christ through our basketball camp! What a tremendous ministry this is for our kids to enjoy and know Christ in a fun and unique way. As we host these phenomenal college students who are coaching, we have a few needs that you can help out with!

    • Bed & breakfast (2 homes would be great!)
    • Gifts cards and/or cash for meals
    • Prayer for crusaders and children who attend camp

    If you or your Bible Study groups can help with these needs, please see me. Thank you for your generosity. Please be in prayer for the workers, the children who will attend, and the Sports Crusaders who will lead the basketball camp.

    Registration for VBS and Sports Camp is available on our website: feefeebc.org/free-vbs-fee-fee/ or feefeebc.org/sports-crusaders/. There will be a limit to registration for both VBS and Sports Camp. The maximum registration for basketball camp is 40 kids, so register early. (The same registration form can be used for both events).

    Family Swim Night

    The very next week after VBS we are hosting a FREE Family Swim Night at the Bridgeton Municipal Pool on August 6 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

  • Bible Study Corner – Vol. 61, No. 11

    Bible Studies on Sundays at 9:45 a.m. is in full swing! There is a place for everyone. If you don’t know where to go, talk to Gloria and she will help you find a good fit. Check the calendar on the back page of this The Forerunner for a list of classes meeting.

    During the summer, only the youth will continue to meet on Wednesday nights. There are Bible Studies on Tuesday and Thursday during the day. There is also a Bible Study on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. on Facebook. For more details, please check the website.
