  • Music Musings – Vol. 61, No. 15

    Choir Returning to 8:30 a.m. Worship

    Our choir will begin rehearsing on August 2 and will return to lead in worship on September 5. It has been about 18 months since our choir has been “on duty,” and I know everyone will be happy to see them returning to our choir loft to sing beautiful songs of praise and inspiration.

    New Hymn by Matt Papa and Matt Boswell

    Almost Home is a new hymn composed by Irish hymnist Matt Papa collaborating with Matt Boswell from Texas.

    Scriptural basis for the hymn is from Hebrews 11:16:

    “But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.”

    The Christian life is a journey toward a place we know in our hearts as home, yet we have never seen or experienced.

    “This song reminds us that we are almost there. Almost to our reward! Don’t drop a single anchor, the opening lines urge us, because this world is not our home. And so, we press on through the doubts and darkness, looking forward to that day when He shall wipe away every tear. On that day, the weak and the strong will rejoice together in our faithful God, the one who brings us home,” – Matt Papa.

    This hymn is set to release on September 10, 2021. You can easily find and hear by keying in – Almost Home by Matt Papa and Matt Boswell.

  • Prime Time – Vol. 61, No. 15

    Don’t forget to sign up for our trip the Churchill Museum in Fulton, scheduled for Monday, August 9.  I have arranged a tour for us at 12:30 p.m. We will eat lunch when we get there at Beks, https://www.beksshop.com which is supposed to be one of the best restaurants in Fulton. You can check out their menu beforehand by going to their website.

    The bus will leave the church at 9:00 a.m. and each person will be charged $5.00 for transportation. Lunch is on your own and the senior price for museum admission is $10. Don’t forget to sign up!

    Our event originally planned for August 25 has been cancelled, so instead we will be having Adult VBS. It will run August 23-26, from 9:00 a.m-11:30 a.m. Mark your calendar, invite some friends, and plan to attend!

  • Bible Study Corner – Vol. 61, No. 15

    Ready for another challenge? I know many of you have been faithful in reading the entire New Testament and Isaiah this year.  We have decided to continue with our churchwide reading plan. We will finish Isaiah on August 6 and will begin the Pentateuch (Genesis – Numbers) on Monday, August 9. We will be reading two chapters a day, Monday through Friday, with the weekends off. This will mean we can complete the first five books of the Bible by the end of the year! I hope you will join us.

    If you would like to talk about what you are reading with others, please let me know so I can either put you in a Transformation Group, or you can get 5 friends together in your own group. They do not even have to be church members or even in this country or state! Get creative and reconnect with some old friends by reading the Bible together!

    Loaves and Fishes – Our church has been feeding the residents of Loaves and Fishes one time a month for the last 2 years, every third Tuesday. What a great way to get involved in serving your community! Your small group, T Group, Bible Study group, or family can take a turn at this awesome opportunity, please contact Gloria gloria@feefeebc.org and let her know.   • Community Connection – Vol. 61, No. 15

    Thank you for giving life by giving blood!

    Thank you to everyone that gave blood on July 14! We collected 17 units of blood that can bless up to 51 people. I appreciate your willingness to give to save lives. Our next blood drive will be September 10.

    Impact Week, September 12-19!!

    Our annual Impact Week is coming up soon! This is a week every year where we try and do as much good in our community as possible in one weeks’ time. In the past we have served at a lot of different locations in many ways: doing yardwork for our neighbor, packing food at food pantries, painting a home in our neighborhood, baking cookies for local first responders, providing meals for a homeless shelter, writing letters to soldiers, and a lot more. I hope you are already thinking creatively and praying about how you could “pursue the good of our community” that week!

    Upcoming Mobile Market Dates

    Anyone in the community is welcome to drive through our parking lot on the following Mondays from 10:00 a.m. until noon (or whenever we run out of food) to have FREE groceries put in their car!

  • Devotional Corner – Vol. 61, No. 15

    “By faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope,” Galatians 5:5.

    There are times when everything looks very dark to me—so dark that I have to wait before I have hope. Waiting with hope is very difficult, but true patience is expressed when we must even wait for hope. When we see no hint of success yet refuse to despair, when we see nothing but the darkness of night through our window yet keep the shutters open because stars may appear in the sky, and when we have an empty place in our heart yet will not allow it to be filled with anything less than God’s best—that is the greatest kind of patience in the universe. It is the story of Job in the midst of the storm, Abraham on the road to Moriah, Moses in the desert of Midian, and the Son of Man in the Garden of Gethsemane. And there is no patience as strong as that which endures because we see “him who is invisible” (Heb. 11:27). It is the kind of patience that waits for hope.

    Father…give me strength to wait for hope—to look through the window when there are no stars. Even when my joy is gone, give me the strength to stand victoriously in the darkest night and say, “To my heavenly Father, the sun still shines.”

  • A Word From Pastor Zach – Vol. 61, No. 15

    Church Family,

    Our mission statement here at Fee Fee is as follows: Fee Fee Baptist Church exists to make disciples who build their lives on Jesus and pursue the good of our community for the glory of God.

    I wanted to share with you a few opportunities you have to both build and pursue over the next few weeks.

    First, when it comes to building our lives on Jesus, we have a new Bible reading plan that we are going to be starting on August 8. We are going to be reading through the Pentateuch (Genesis-Deuteronomy) as a church together this fall. We will be reading two chapters a day, five days a week. I want to encourage you to jump on board with our reading plan! In addition, we will continue our virtual transformation groups. If you are interested in being a part of a transformation group and have accountability as you read through the Bible with other believers, I want to encourage you to sign up at www.feefeebc.org/tgroups. To build our lives on Jesus, we need to make a habit to be in His Word!

    Second, when it comes to pursuing the good of our community, we have two great opportunities coming up. First, on Friday, August 6, we are going to have a Family Swim Night at the outdoor Bridgeton pool! We want to show our community that we love them, and one easy way to do so is to invite families to this fun (and FREE!) evening! Please spread the word about this event to your friends and neighbors.

    Additionally, the next morning, on August 7, we are going to have our annual Free Market. Please come and volunteer as we give away gently used items to our community. Sign up to host a table or simply come and help us set up or tear down. In conjunction with the giving away of these items, we will also have backpacks packed full of school supplies for kids in our community. This is a great way for us to pursue the good of our community by ensuring kids in our neighborhood have the necessary supplies as they get ready for a new school year.

    We will continue to look for creative ways to build our lives on Jesus and pursue the good of our community. I want to encourage you to join me in praying for these upcoming opportunities in the life of our church. I believe that God is going to continue to move and work in our church in a powerful way!

  • Community Connection – Vol. 61, No. 14

    Free Market Donations

    The Free Market is on Saturday, August 7 on the church parking lot. The Free Market is like a Garage Sale, but everything is FREE! There are two ways you can help at the Free Market: 1) giving away your stuff or 2) donating school supplies (or BOTH!).

    First, if you have good (gently used or new) items around your house you would like to give away, you can sign up for a spot in the Connection Center or by contacting Gloria, gloria@feefeebc.org. You cannot just drop off items at church to be given away – you must be present at the Free Market in order to give it away.

    Secondly, we will give away NEW backpacks full of NEW school supplies. You can donate the following: backpacks, #2 Wooden Pencils, 24-Pack Crayons, Colored Pencils, Washable Markers, Dry Erase Markers, Elmer’s Glue Sticks, Ink Pens, Erasers, Fiskar Scissors, Spiral Notebooks (Wide Ruled), Composition Notebooks, Pocket Folders (3-holes), 3-Ring Binders, Clorox Wipes, and Hand Sanitizer.

    Calendar Change

    Hope you celebrated the great freedoms we have in America and in Christ over the 4th of July. Thanks to all of you who served and who helped secure these freedoms.

    Our next event is a trip to the Churchill Museum. As I was checking their website for costs, I discovered that it was not open yet. When the pandemic shut them down, they took the opportunity to remodel and do some updates.  The grand reopening is the weekend of July 31.

    Consequently, we will switch our trip to the St. Louis Science Center to July 26 and go to the Churchill Museum on August 9. Hopefully this doesn’t mess your schedule up too much. Thank you so much for your flexibility as we get back out and enjoy fellowship together.

    Science Center Details

    On Monday, July 26 we will leave the church at 10:00 a.m. Tickets for the Mummies of the World exhibit are $16.95. The OmniMax theater price is $8.95 to see Into America’s Wild. We will go to Pappy’s for lunch – yum!

    My apologies to those of you who will be serving in Vacation Bible School and will not be able to attend. Thanks for serving our kids! Don’t worry – there will be more Prime Time activities to come!

    Free Market & Backpack Giveaway

    I would encourage you to support our annual Free Market on Saturday, August 7. Bring new or gently used clothes, furniture, appliances, or anything else to be given away to our community from in our parking lot on this Saturday morning.

    We are also collecting backpacks and school supplies to be given out that day to kids in our community. You can drop off your donations at church in the Donation Center, catty-corner from the Connection Center. You can also just donate money for this cause to Kim in our financial office.

    This effort is a great way to “pursue the good of our community.” I hope many of you will sign up to be a part of the Free Market and be a blessing to our neighbors!

  • Bible Study Corner – Vol. 61, No. 14

    All of our Sunday morning Bible Studies at 9:45 a.m. are up and running! While we have many people attending, we still have room for you. Please contact Gloria, gloria@feefeebc.org,  or by calling the church office at 314-739-1525, if you want to get involved and she will find the best fit for you.

    Let’s Collect 200 Backpacks with School Supplies!!!

    I would like to challenge our Bible Study classes to get involved with the Free Market on Saturday, August 7. A group of you could get together some items to give away for the community. Our challenge is to buy 200 backpacks and stuff them with school supplies to hand out that day. Challenge each other in your class to buy some backpacks and fill them with the school supplies (listed elsewhere in the Forerunner).

    Men’s Fraternity

    Men’s Fraternity is the only Wednesday night adult Bible Study meeting this summer is, in room B1 at 6:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity for the men of our church to study and encourage each other.
