  • Prime Time – Vol. 62, No. 10

    I hope you can join us on Thursday, June 9, at 10:00 a.m. to go to the Heritage Museum in St. Charles. They are featuring a brand new exhibit called, “The American Revolutionary War in the West.” The exhibit focuses on the war in the west which is almost always completely ignored. We will then have lunch at Lewis and Clark’s on Main Street St. Charles. The exhibit is totally free, just bring money for lunch. Hope to see you there.

    There has been a date change for Josephine’s Tearoom and Gift Shop in Godfrey, IL. We are now going on Monday, June 27, when I am actually in town! Sorry for the confusion. After a great lunch we can visit the main gift shop that features everything you could possibly want, and then 2 more shops – one of which is all sales items. The tearoom features soups, salads, and sandwiches and of course desserts! The bus will leave at 10:00 a.m.

    We are taking the month of July off but will resume our regular twice-a-month fun in August which will include four days of Adult VBS. Dates will be announced in the next Forerunner.

    A big thank you to all who attended, served, set-up, and provided the night’s entertainment for the Annual Legacy Banquet. It just keeps getting better and better each year!

  • College & Outreach – Vol. 62, No. 10

    “Now he told them a parable on the need for them to pray always and not give up,” (Luke 18:1).

    I pray that our study of the parable of the persistent widow encouraged you to pray always and not give up. We serve a loving God who desires to hear our prayers, “because the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are open to their prayer” (1 Peter 3:12). In their exile, God encourages his people with these tender words: “You will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:12-13). Be encouraged church; the God of all Creation wants to hear from you! If it is a brand-new request, or the same prayer you’ve prayed a thousand times, God delights in hearing from his people. Don’t know what to pray? Have no fear, “because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:26-27).

    There are countless ways you can be praying for Fee Fee Baptist Church, her staff, and her people this summer; let me draw your attention to two of them:

    Chi Alpha in Washington D.C.

    30 of your students and leaders will travel to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area for a missions project June 10-18. Pray now for Church at Saint Charles in Waldorf, MD, where your team will be renovating classrooms. Pray for Lifestyles of Maryland, a homelessness and hunger ministry your team will work alongside during our stay. Pray for travel mercies, expectant hearts, and working hands.

    Dominican Republic

    A team of 11 members and staff will travel to the Dominican Republic for church partnership and children’s ministry July 9-15. Pray for health before and during our travels, as we do not want any sickness to sideline the ministry God will do. Pray now for the hearts of the children who will attend VBS during our stay. Pray for the translators who will communicate the love of Jesus in their own language.

    Thank you for joining us in prayer for these missions endeavors this summer. May God bless you and give you strength to pray always and not give up.

    Movie Night Recap

    Movie night was great!  Thank you, Vance Stewart and Keith Jenkins, for set-up and for those who stayed after the movie, Eric Bowman, Jacob Hopson, Maddie Hopson, Keith Jenkins and Kevin Knepper for helping to take down and clean up!  Ashley Bowman made some great popcorn!  Thanks everyone!

    Father/Son Fishing Day

    Father/Son Fishing Day – Saturday, June 18, 9-11am at Busch Wildlife Conservation area.  Put it on your calendar and plan to spend a fun morning fishing.  If you will need equipment with which to fish, let Kathy know because we have some experienced fishermen coming to assist. Bring drinks to keep cool, and your favorite bait and fishing pole, (some will be provided). Sign-up sheet is available in the Connection Center. You can find fishing regulations for this event here – https://mdc.mo.gov/fishing/regulations . Adults will need a fishing license. This event is open to kids through 5th grade and their dads.

    VBS 2022 & Athletic Camp – July 18-22, “MOMUMENTAL – Celebrating God’s Greatness”

    Registration is open for VBS and Soccer Camp for kids that have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Sadly, Sports Crusaders had to cancel leadership for soccer camp due to lack of college students to lead. We will provide some kind of athletic camp following VBS, and lunch, so go ahead and register. The cost for this week of fun is FREE for VBS and $55 for Athletic Camp. No limit on registration for VBS. However, there are limited spaces available for athletic camp, so go to our website and register early online:  www.feefeebc.org/free-vbs-fee-fee and register early!  One online form can be used for both events. Preschool forms can be turned in to church office or Kathy. Please register for all other ages online.

    Mobile Market

    We love partnering with the St. Louis Area Food Bank to get free groceries into the hands of families in need in our community. Anyone is welcome to come get groceries on the second Monday of each month, at 10:00 a.m. (until the food runs out).

  • Chi Alpha News – Vol. 62, No. 10

    Pray for our Washington, D.C. Team!

    We will be sending a team of 30 students and adult leaders to Washington, D.C. in just a few short days, and we are so excited! While we are there, we will be serving with a local church doing ministry together and supporting them in many ways. We will be doing projects such as painting, minor construction, homeless ministry, prayer walking, and whatever else God will throw our way while we are there! Here are a few ways you can practically pray for our team:

    • Pray for safe travels to and from Washington, D.C.
    • Pray for the city of Waldorf, MD and Washington, D.C., and their people. Pray that we will be able to bless those we meet.
    • Pray for our students and leaders, that this will be a great bonding experience for them to grow closer together as a team, but also that this will be a fruitful week for their relationship with the Lord.

    I am so blessed to lead these students in a church that so faithfully supports them, and many others, in missions. So, thank you church family!

  • Devotional Corner – Vol. 62, No. 10

    Keep on loving each other as brothers”. – Hebrews13:1

    Ravensbruck 1944. A young Dutch woman is in the hospital barracks, giving up hope. Where there remains no courage to live, the body gives up. Though it is absolutely forbidden to go into the hospital barracks, Corrie and four other Dutch women try to go as close as possible to the young woman to encourage her, motivated by compassion and love. They know which window she lies behind. When they arrive, the shutters are closed. So, they pray that someone will open the shutters. One of the guards walks by and opens them. But then the window is locked, and they cannot open it from the outside. They pray again and a Polish nurse opens the window from inside. Now Corrie walks to the window and starts to encourage the young woman. Again, the guard walks by and slaps Corrie hard on her back. Corrie goes back to the four other women, and they pray that no one will walk by anymore. Then Corrie continues to comfort and encourage this young sick woman and reminds her of the fact that Christ is Victor and that He is always with her.

    Thirty years before, Corrie’s father had given her the key to love and compassion. At that time, Corrie was crying her eyes out, because the young man, whom she loved dearly, unexpectedly came to her house and introduced his new fiancée to her, which tore down all her dreams and hopes to share her future life with him.

    Her father, after a while, climbed up to her bedroom, sat next to her and waited until she calmed down a bit and said: “Corrie, love is the strongest force in the world. When love is hold back, we can do two things: we can either silence and kill love so that no one can hurt us anymore or we can ask God to open other ways to share our love. If we cannot share love in the normal, human way then God can teach us to love in His perfect way and pour out His love in our hearts”.

    God is Love. Again and again, He can find ways through which we can love our neighbor. “We love because he first loved us,” (1 John 4:19).

  • Music Musings – Vol. 62, No. 10

    Patriotic Choir – Please come join us in singing great songs honoring our country and more importantly seeking God’s guidance to heal our land. We meet on Sundays at 2:00 p.m. in the choir room. Rehearsals run approximately 90 minutes. We need all voices and hope to have a multigenerational voiced choir. We will not rehearse on Father’s Day.

     

    Save the Dates – It is not too soon to plan to attend our Summer Concerts Series every Sunday night in July. Each concert begins at 6:00 p.m. and runs about an hour. Following each concert, we have a time for refreshments and fellowship. These concerts are FREE, but love offerings will be collected.

    July 3 – Patriotic Concert – featuring choir and handbells

    July 10 – Timothy and Hosanna Noble – piano and violin

    July 17 – Doug Mikan – ventriloquist

    July 24 – The Punches – Bluegrass Gospel

    As you can see, we have a wide variety of concert events this year. Don’t miss hearing some great music and entertainment. Bring friends, family, and neighbors to join you to attend these concerts. You will be glad you did!

  • Bible Study Corner – Vol. 62, No. 10

    Pick up a bookmark or reading plan from the Connection Center for our Summer/Fall Bible Reading Plan, which covers 1 & 2 Kings and 1 & 2 Chronicles. We have read all of the New Testament, Isaiah, and from Genesis through 2 Samuel together. If you have not participated, it is not too late to start now.

    I want to encourage those of you doing T-groups to start meeting in person. I know some of you love your Marco Polo groups but there is nothing better than the interaction you have when meeting together face to face.

    I would also like to see small groups beginning to resume. If you need materials or suggestions of how to get this going, contact Gloria. You can meet in homes or the church. If you want to meet in the church, one person in the group will need to schedule that on the church calendar but contacting the church office (314) 739-1525.

    Get involved in Bible Study with others. Talk to Gloria if you want to get involved.

  • Footsteps of the Faithful – Vol. 62, No. 9

    Melissa Eberts, Worship Leader

    My name is Melissa Eberts, and I am the worship leader in our second service on Sunday mornings. I am so excited to invite you to our Worship and Prayer Night on Friday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. in our Worship Center. Childcare will not be provided, but your entire family and friends can join us for a night of worship and prayer as we glorify God together.

    I was inspired to create a night like this because I believe worshipping and praying with other believers is very important. It builds our faith corporately as we seek the Lord together. It also reflects a spirit of community and unity within the Body of Christ. Our main focus this night will be “Surrender,” on a personal and corporate level. Throughout the night, our band will be leading us in many worship songs, and we will pause for times of focused prayer, along with times of reflection. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, who bear my name, humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.” In our personal lives, this will be a time of reflection, surrender and asking God to show us how we can grow to be more like Him. Corporately, this will be a time of crying out to God in unity for the issues plaguing our world. It’s so important to rely on the Spirit of God to change us from the inside out to reflect the fruits of the Spirit. Let’s come together and agree that God would help us love the things He loves and hate the things He hates. That we would turn from any sin that so easily entangles us and press on to run and finish our races (Hebrews 12:1). I’m believing for a night of breakthrough! May the Lord fill us and change us, so that we can be salt and light to the world. I have been praying for this night for a while, and I have been praying for YOU! Please join us for this time of community as we worship and pray together. All are welcome!

    AWANA Awards Night

    Join us Wednesday, May 18 at 6:00 p.m. in the Dining Room. Come and see all that the children have accomplished this year as well as saying a big THANK YOU to all the teachers who have worked with our children.

    Family Movie Night

    Family Movie Night will be Friday, May 20 at 8:00 p.m. in the courtyard. We will be showing Disney’s Encanto! Bring your own drinks and chairs or blankets; we will provide the popcorn!

    Mother/Daughter Spa Day

    Mother/Daughter Spa Day will be on Saturday, June 4, from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Come prepared to pamper yourself and do a craft. We will have fun with hair chalk, nail salon, jewelry making, chalk couture crafting, photo booth and more! Cost is $5.00 per person. Mothers and Daughters of all ages are invited! Sign-up sheets are in the Connection Center.
