  • College & Outreach – Vol. 62, No. 19

    Pray for Our Local College Students

    The school year is back in full swing! Each new fall means new college students at our local universities and new opportunities for young adults to come to saving faith in King Jesus. Please pray for our St. Louis area colleges. Missouri Baptist University and Lindenwood University both are seeing the Spirit move through their students; pray that He would continue His work! Be praying for laborers to go out to our colleges, for the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few (Matt. 9:37-38).

    Impact Week Recap

    The final tally for Impact Week is in — 492.5 hours! Thank you again for your service during Impact Week. We are praying in the weeks to come that this service spread seeds of the Gospel throughout the community, that those seeds would take root, and become a bountiful harvest for the kingdom. Continue praying and pursuing the good of your community with the love of Christ.

     

    Finally, I want to encourage you as you may feel weary, turn to your Savior. Matthew 11:25-30 reminds us that Jesus Christ oversees all things and will give us rest. As you work this week, remember that your work is done primarily to glorify God. Secondarily, your work is designed to proclaim who God is and encourage others to seek after God themselves. Provision for your family is not the primary reason we should be working! Our reason for being, our life’s purpose as believers, is to glorify God through our work. If there is breath in your lungs, the Lord asks that you work for Him, and He will provide your rest. So work, brothers, and sisters; work for the Lord and not for men.

  • A Word From Pastor Zach – Vol. 62, No. 18

    Church Family,

    What an incredible week we just experienced as a church! During Impact Week, we were able to give 418 local missions hours to our community! It is always so encouraging to me to see our church being intentionally on mission. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus and both proclaiming and demonstrating the love of God to our city.

    Just last week, I had a problem. I grabbed my phone off the charger, but it was nearly dead. I was confused because I had it plugged into the charger all night. Then, as I looked closer, I realized the charger had disconnected with the outlet. My phone didn’t receive power because it wasn’t connected to the power source. To go out and effectively live as ambassadors for Christ, we need to make sure that we are living our lives empowered by the Spirit. To stay empowered, we need to stay connected to God. We can’t do it in our own strength.

    Jesus talks in John 15 about how we must remain in Him. He says He is the vine, and we are the branches. If we stay connected to Him, we will bear fruit. However, apart from Him, we can do nothing. Let’s make sure we stay connected to Him.

    One way to stay connected to Him is by participating in our midweek activities. Every Wednesday night, at 6:00 p.m., we have a few different Bible Study options for you that will help you stay connected to the vine. Gloria Fox will be leading our Women’s Bible Study through Job in the Fellowship Hall. I will be leading a time of prayer and a study through Praying through the Bible by Donald Whitney in the Dining Room. I know that my prayer life has been strengthened by this study, and I can’t wait to see how it impacts your prayer lives as well! Also, as an added bonus, I have been given a few dozen copies of this book by Crossway Publishing. Everyone who comes to our Prayer and Bible Study time will receive a copy until we run out.

    There are also opportunities to serve on Wednesday evenings. We’d love to have you help out in AWANA with our kids or in the Rafters with our youth. Please contact Kathy Scott or Kyle Baldwin about ways to get involved.

    In addition to those options, we also will be having a meal one Wednesday evening a month before these various midweek options get underway. For September 21, we will be having meatloaf! Make sure to sign up for this meal, which is free (but donations are accepted).

    Will you join me in praying that we stay connected to God throughout the week? We want to bear fruit, and to do that, we must remain in Christ!

  • A Word From Pastor Zach – Vol. 62, No. 17

    Church Family,

    The day that this article is getting We are now one week away from our fourth annual Impact Week! When we launched this local missions-oriented week of service back in 2019, I don’t think any of us could have anticipated how God has worked in and through this incredible week. Partnering with great organizations in our city like Loaves and Fishes, Room at the Inn, Thrive, and the St. Louis County Area Foodbank, among many others, has been such a blessing.

    For Impact Week this year, we have projects that include each of those non-profit organizations I listed above, along with providing a meal for our police department, coffee for Pattonville’s Early Childhood Center, cleaning up local parks, hosting a blood drive, and having our monthly Mobile Market. You can sign up for any of these projects, or you can organize your own with your family or your Bible study class. From baking cookies for firemen to making cards for health care workers, there are a lot of different ways we can stay on mission and be the hands and feet of Jesus!

    In Matthew 12, John the Baptist is stuck in prison and is struggling with doubt. He even sends a couple of his disciples to go and ask Jesus if He was actually the Messiah or not. Do you know how Jesus responds to this question? He tells John’s disciples to go and share with Him what they have seen and heard.

    Jesus then alludes to prophecies in Isaiah when he shares about all the things that he is doing. He was telling the disciples that the proof was in the way He both proclaimed and demonstrated the Gospel. For Jesus, He proclaimed that the Kingdom of God was at hand. Then, He backed up that proclamation through His many miracles. He both shared the Gospel with His lips and demonstrated it with His life.

    In the same way, we have the opportunity during Impact Week to share the Gospel through proclamation and demonstration. We need to be ready to turn everyday conversations into Gospel conversations. Further, by going out and serving the community and meeting needs, we are going to demonstrate to our community the reality of God’s love for them.

    It is my prayer that we can show our community through Impact Week that we really do love where we live. I believe that our demonstration of the Gospel through our local mission work is going to allow us open doors to proclaim the truth of the Gospel to our neighbors.

  • Music Musings – Vol. 62, No. 17

    Christmas Choir Rehearsals

    Christmas Choir rehearsals will begin on September 18 from 1:15-2:45 p.m. in the Choir Room. You will be assigned music scores at our first rehearsal. Rehearsal recordings that highlight individual parts will be available. Recordings without highlighted parts will also be offered. If you haven’t sung for a while – no worries. Your vocal muscles just need a little exercise. It will come back to you – kind of like riding a bike – you never forget!

    Impact Week Hymn Caroling

    You may still sign up in the Welcome Center to participate in our “Friendship Choir” that will be hymn caroling on Wednesday, September 14 and Thursday, September 15, from 12:00-5:30 p.m. You may choose to participate one or both days as we go hymn caroling for some of our homebound folks. We will meet at the church at noon both days and take our bus to each home so we can all stay together. We will simply sing a few favorite old hymns and invite them to sing along.

    In the past it has been a delight to see the expressions of joy on the faces of those who have missed singing these old familiar favorites. Trust me! You will be blessed!

  • Chi Alpha News – Vol. 62, No. 17

    Impact Week & Redemption Ranch Kick-Off Celebration

    Impact Week is quickly approaching, and this is one of my absolute favorite times of the year, so I am beaming with excitement right now! Don’t forget that on September 11, we will be out at Redemption Ranch for one worship service at 11:00 a.m. as we kick off this amazing week. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on for service, and be sure to bring a hat or umbrella, sunscreen, swimsuit, yard game, and a friend to this super fun event. There will be lunch too!

    Also, be sure to sign up for an Impact Week project during that week. There are sign-up sheets in the Welcome Center for you to check out, but you can also create your own service project with your family or friends! Chi Alpha will be kicking off our fall schedule that Wednesday, September 14, and we will be taking part in our own service projects that night, including filling our Action Packs with the donation items you all brought for the Underground Church event this summer. So, make sure that you join us that night from 6:00-7:30 pm for the project, where we will also have worship and fun games as well. I can’t wait to see how you all will serve during Impact Week!

  • Prime Time – Vol. 62, No. 17

    By the time you read this, you will have already celebrated Labor Day with picnics, swim parties, and BBQ. While I am looking forward to a day off and celebrating with my friends, I realized I had no idea why and what I was celebrating so I googled it!

    I found out that it was an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of the American workers.  The holiday began in the late 1800s when labor activists pushed for a holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.

    So let me just take a minute to thank all of you for your contributions whether it be inside the home or outside in the many occupations represented by this body of believers. Thanks for all you have done to make this country a land of opportunity.

    Speaking of opportunities, (nice segue right?), don’t forget our trip to tour Holy Family Catholic Church on September 12, and our movie day here on September 28. The sign-up sheets are in the Connection Center.

    Hope you had a great 3-day weekend with lots of rest and relaxation so we can serve our community during Impact Week September 11-18.

  • A Word From Pastor Zach – Vol. 62, No. 16

    Church Family,

    The day that this article is getting published, August 22, is a big day in our community. It is the day that Pattonville ISD starts for the fall semester! When it comes to Bridgeton, our schools are some of our biggest mission fields. Please join me in praying for our schools and that God will capture the hearts of the next generation.

    Additionally, we had Promotion Sunday yesterday here at Fee Fee. This the is Sunday that our kids and students move up to their next class and get to meet their new teachers. In addition to this being a Sunday that marks the beginning of a new semester for our students, it is also the beginning of a brand new series and emphasis that we are going to walk through as a church.

    This new series is called “Love Where You Live.” Over the next few weeks, we are going to unpack Matthew 9:35-38 and examine how we can truly demonstrate to our community that we really do love where we live. As part of the vision of our church, we talk about how we want to pursue the good of our community for the glory of God. This series is going to give us practical ways to love our community.

    We are going to look at the importance of changing our perspective, changing our prayers, and changing our purpose as we seek the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to be God’s ambassadors and live out the calling of the Great Commission.

    In the midst of this series, we are going to have our fourth annual “Impact Week.” This is a week that we take part in multiple mission projects in our community to tangibly demonstrate the love of Christ. To kick of this special week of local missions, we are going to have an off-campus worship service and fellowship (and Potluck lunch with BBQ!) at Redemption Ranch on Sunday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m.

    Mark your calendars for this incredible week and make sure you come out to Redemption Ranch on September 11! We won’t have anything on campus that Sunday. Instead, we are going to have a great time of food, fellowship, and worship out at the Ranch. Just like last year, we will also get to celebrate new life through baptism at Redemption Ranch’s lake!

    Will you join me in praying for our church as we journey through this initiative of being the hands and feet of Jesus and demonstrating clearly to our community that we love where we live?

  • Community Connection – Vol. 61, No. 19

    Impact Week Thanks

    Thank you to everyone that participated in our Impact Week! I was overwhelmed with seeing how many people were volunteering their time and showing compassion and love to our community. You worked in food pantries.  You helped paint homes. You donated items to refugees. You wrote thoughtful letters to people. You provided meals. You gave 458.5 hours of volunteering in one week’s time to make an impact in our community. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus! My prayer is that you will not limit this to just one week but that you will continue to have compassionate hearts and look for opportunities to serve our community year-round.

  • Family Front – Vol. 61, No. 18

    Impact Week

    Impact Week is coming up September 12-18. Perhaps you and your family plan to meet a need in your community? Clean out gutters for a neighbor? Take cookies to police or fire stations? Pick up trash in a local park?  There are lot of small projects you can do as a family that make a BIG difference in people lives.

    Midweek Activities

    Wednesday, September 8 we will begin our new church year for midweek activities, with AWANA for kids from 6:00-7:00 p.m. There is something for ALL ages: Puggles for ages 0-2; Cubbies for age 3-pre-K; Sparks and TnT for K-3rd grades; and the new mission-focused program called Kids in Action for 4th and 5th grade LIVEWIRES. If you could give just 30 minutes of your time to listen to our AWANA kids recite their verses, that would be so helpful for them. And parents, there are Bible Study options for you as well: Bible study and Prayer with Pastor Zach; Men’s Bible Study; and Women’s Bible Study. We would love to have you join!

    Trunk or Treat

    Put Trunk or Treat on your calendar for Sunday, October 31, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Be thinking about how you want to be involved: have a decorated trunk, help setup and clean up, greet people, or face paint.  Of course, we will be collecting a TON of candy starting October 10. There will be an area to deposit your candy donations. Let’s BOOOO-tifully meet and serve our community !

    Ministry Opportunity

    We are in need of people who are willing to serve their church! We need loving caring workers for preschool care during worship. Please let me know if you can serve our families in this way.  As always, thank you for your willing heart to serve.

    “Give praise to the only God. He is our Savior. Glory, majesty, power, and authority belong to him. Give praise to him through Jesus Christ our Lord. Give praise to the One who was before all time, who now is, and who will be forever. Amen,” (Jude 1:25).

  • Community Connection – Vol. 61, No. 18

    Impact Week Celebration, September 19

    At the end of Impact Week we want to celebrate! So, we’re going to have a unique Impact Week Celebration on Sunday, September 19. We will have one worship service at Redemption Ranch (77 Redemption Rd., Winfield, MO 63389) at 11:00 a.m. Then we will have a free lunch followed by an afternoon of fun! Some fun things to do there include hiking, canoeing, swimming, volleyball, yard games, board games, and more! This will be a great day of fellowship and celebration of all that God has done in the past week. Sign up for lunch in the Connection Center at church or by contacting the church office (314) 739-1525.
