    Big Chill 2023

Woah…. how in the world did we end up here already? It feels like we just wrapped up DNOW. So now you’re trying to convince me that Big Chill 2023 is only days away— January 13 & 14 (you should sign you and your friends up btw)?! This has definitely been a whirlwind of a year! But who’s ready for some fun?!

    2022 Reflections & New Year

Every year I’m reminded how great the God we serve is, and I see it daily in the lives of our students. This year has been filled with a lot of question marks – personally, for our youth group, and for the church as a whole. Each time I feel like we’re stuck, the life that radiates from our students reminds me we can, and will, move forward. For me, this has been a tough year navigating a lot of challenges, both personally, and with my wife Alaina, as we figure out what our future looks like as a young married couple. But when I feel down, the smiles and high fives from the kids help me realize everything is good. I always want the best for our youth, but this year, they taught me something: the value of quality time. We’ve taken the time to have more meaningful moments together, and we have seen growth not just in relationships, but in numbers too! We sit in the beginning phases of an interim period, and I’ve been worried about what the future of our church looks like. But when I show up on a Wednesday nights, I’m reminded the future of our church in the hearts of these students, and if I can pour everything God has given me into them, then our church will flourish, and our best days truly are ahead of us.

This has been a weird year, and while I’m thankful for the challenges, lessons, and reminders it gave me, I’m also ready to move on to a better 2023. We’re ready for the challenges that lie ahead, and I know God will be there with us. I’m excited to see where Fee Fee goes this year! Happy New Year Fee Fee Family!

    Trivia Night Fundraiser

Our annual Youth Trivia Night Fundraiser is on Saturday, November 5! All proceeds for this event will benefit students who will go on our summer mission trips in 2023. Trivia will be played from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tables of 8 people are $80 and you can sign up in the Connection Center. Childcare is available by reservation only, so shoot Kyle an email to sign up. We will also be having a Silent Auction, so if you have items to donate, deliver those to Kyle, or drop them off at the church office.

    2023 Summer Mission Trips

In case you missed the informational meeting on October 16, we announced plans for our 2023 summer mission trips! I am so excited to announce that our youth students will be going to MFuge Camp at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY! MFuge is the perfect blend of a camp and mission trip experience, and students will have the opportunity to have fun, worship, play games, and grow with other students from around the country, while working on a service project during the day. These projects range from construction, painting, yardwork, children’s ministry, or homeless ministry. This trip will be July 10-14, and will cost $200. Deposits of $50 and release forms are due on Sunday, November 13.

Our international trip, which is open for 11th Grade students and older, is heading to Poland with Praying Pelican Missions to work with Ukrainian refugees who have been displaced by the war. Our church has done a great job of supporting Ukraine and our various partners there, and this is just the next step in our journey. What an exciting opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus, with a cause that is very near and dear to the heart of our church. This trip will be June 10-19, and will cost $1200. Deposits of $150, applications, and release forms are due on Sunday, November 13.

Church, please pray about your involvement in these trips. Whether you sign up to go, attend a fundraiser, donate supplies, financially support the participants, or just pray for our teams, these trips are all hands on deck for our church. I am so thankful that we are a church who supports our people going on mission for the Gospel!

2023 Mission Trip Parent Info Meeting – CHANGES

Sunday, October 16 we will be meeting to discuss our plans for our summer mission trips. This meeting will include information for both the youth trip AND our international trip. We will meet in the Dining Room immediately after the 11:00 a.m. service.

    A Season of Change

“Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it?” (Isaiah 43:19 CSB).

Change is difficult, even in the life of the church. But we were never promised comfort as Christians. God loves to find ways to challenge us, not because He is unjust and cruel, but because He is strengthening us to continue moving forward. We are going to miss Pastor Zach, Jill, and their kids so much here at Fee Fee, but I know that God has great plans for His church ahead of us! While it is good and healthy to process through the emotions that come with this recent news, I urge you to remain firm in Jesus, because He never changes. Fee Fee will be just fine, in fact, her best days are ahead of her. I can’t wait to see how we as a church body will bond together in this time and continue to build our lives on Jesus, AND pursue the good of our community. We love you church! The work is not done yet, so buckle up!

    School Encouragement

The first month of school has already flown by, and everyone is somehow 10x busier than last year! As we really get in to the nitty gritty of the semester, don’t forget to stay plugged in here at church. We are here for you when you feel tired and weak, and we also want to be able to celebrate with you when things go well. We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish this school year, and we can’t wait to have fun with you along the way. We love you all!

Impact Week & Redemption Ranch Kick-Off Celebration

Impact Week is quickly approaching, and this is one of my absolute favorite times of the year, so I am beaming with excitement right now! Don’t forget that on September 11, we will be out at Redemption Ranch for one worship service at 11:00 a.m. as we kick off this amazing week. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on for service, and be sure to bring a hat or umbrella, sunscreen, swimsuit, yard game, and a friend to this super fun event. There will be lunch too!

Also, be sure to sign up for an Impact Week project during that week. There are sign-up sheets in the Welcome Center for you to check out, but you can also create your own service project with your family or friends! Chi Alpha will be kicking off our fall schedule that Wednesday, September 14, and we will be taking part in our own service projects that night, including filling our Action Packs with the donation items you all brought for the Underground Church event this summer. So, make sure that you join us that night from 6:00-7:30 pm for the project, where we will also have worship and fun games as well. I can’t wait to see how you all will serve during Impact Week!

Pray for our Washington, D.C. Team!

We will be sending a team of 30 students and adult leaders to Washington, D.C. in just a few short days, and we are so excited! While we are there, we will be serving with a local church doing ministry together and supporting them in many ways. We will be doing projects such as painting, minor construction, homeless ministry, prayer walking, and whatever else God will throw our way while we are there! Here are a few ways you can practically pray for our team:

    • Pray for safe travels to and from Washington, D.C.
    • Pray for the city of Waldorf, MD and Washington, D.C., and their people. Pray that we will be able to bless those we meet.
    • Pray for our students and leaders, that this will be a great bonding experience for them to grow closer together as a team, but also that this will be a fruitful week for their relationship with the Lord.

I am so blessed to lead these students in a church that so faithfully supports them, and many others, in missions. So, thank you church family!

    Summer Fun!

We have officially rolled out our Summer Schedule for 2022, and I am so excited for what is in store! We have some great things planned, and we are looking forward to making so many memories together. Students should have received the schedule during Bible Study and parents should have received an email, but if you need an extra copy of the schedule, you can find them in the Rafters. You can also refer to our social media and the website for more details.

    Shred Truck Fundraiser

We are hosting another Shred Truck Fundraiser on our campus on Saturday, May 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to help raise funds for our DC Mission Trip! This is the first one we have hosted since the pandemic, so if you have accrued extra documents that you would like to have safely and securely shredded (which I’m sure you have), come and see us! For every box that you need shredded, we are asking for a $5.00 per box donation. We hope to see you there, and as always, thank you for supporting our Student Ministry!
