    Grief Support Group

    A new grief support group led by Nina Palumbo, a licensed Clinical Social Worker who is certified in Spiritual Christian Counseling meets every Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in room B2. This group is open not just to Fee Fee, but to those in our community who are needing support and direction after the loss of a loved one.     Media Center

    Visit the Media Center to check out the table of free items that are available—books, magazines, puzzles, and a variety of greeting cards! Our four computers are also needing some use, so stop and peruse our shelves and do a little research on your current favorite topic.

    Men’s Prayer Breakfast

    The men of Fee Fee Baptist will be meeting for their monthly prayer breakfast at Golden Corral in St. Charles at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21. All men are encouraged to come out and enjoy good food and fellowship.

    • Full of faith (Acts 6:5).
    • Grave (I Timothy 3:8); reverence for spiritual matters.
    • Not double-tongued (I Timothy 3:8).
    • Not given to much wine (I Timothy 3:8).
    • Not greedy of filthy lucre (I Timothy 3:8).
    • A holder of the faith (I Timothy 3:9).
    • Tested and proved (I Timothy 3:10).
    • Blameless (I Timothy 3:10).
    • Christian family life (I Timothy 3:11-12).
      • Husband of one wife (I Timothy 3:11-12).
      • Ruling their children and their own houses well (I Timothy 3:12).

  • Family Front – Vol. 60, No. 05

    Week of Prayer for North American Missions

    …will be March 29 through April 5.  Our church goal this year is $12,500. Pray about the amount you can set aside as a family to support our North American missionaries.

    Summer Fun Week

    …is coming and will be here before we know it! Vacation Bible School and Sports Crusaders Basketball Camp will be June 22-26. “Wilderness Escape” is the theme for our VBS, and will be from 9:00 a.m. to noon; Basketball Camp will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. If you would like to serve, now is the time to sign up!  See Kathy Scott about how you can get connected, kathy@feefeebc.org.

    Children’s Ministry Opportunities

    We are still in need of a few people to fill some teaching spots in our children’s ministry:  assistant teacher for Livewires (Sunday), assistant teacher for Kindergarten Bible study (Sunday), AWANA listeners on Wednesdays; and Worship Care during 11:00 a.m. Sunday worship.  Talk to Kathy Scott if you want to help with any of these ministries.     Deuteronomy 6:4-7 – The Lord is our God. The Lord is the one and only God. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your strength. The commandments I give you today must be in your hearts. Make sure your children learn them. Talk about them when you are at home. Talk about them when you walk along the road. Speak about them when you go to bed. And speak about them when you get up. 

  • Music Musings – Vol. 60, No. 05

    The Place of Music in Worship

    The people of God sing. The role of music in worship is Biblical. After escaping from the Egyptians and crossing the Red Sea, the people of Israel sang a song to the Lord (Exodus 15). Singing was part of Israel’s formal worship in both tabernacle and temple (1 Chronicles 6:31-32, 16:42). The Psalms bear rich testimony that in joy and sorrow, in praise and lament, the faithful raise their voices to God in song. Hymn singing was practiced by Jesus and His disciples (Matthew 26:30). The Apostle Paul instructed the Colossians to sing “…psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.”

    A Hymn of Confidence and Faith

    Our choir will soon be worshipping with a modern hymn, By Faith, paired with the old hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness, written in 1923 by Thomas Chisolm. By Faith was written in 2009 by Keith and Kristen Getty and Stuart Townend. Inspired by Hebrews 11, the message of this song shows how believers today are traveling the same journey of faith as those who’ve walked before us. In writing modern hymns, the Getty’s consider a musical vocabulary that might link generations rather than separating them.

    It Can’t Be Said Too Many Times

    We can always use more singers in our Friendship Choir. This ministry will afford you the opportunity to brighten days and share the love of Christ with a most appreciative audience. We are currently planning a trip in April to visit the Baptist Home in Ironton.  We also seek to schedule visits to facilities that house our members. You will find this time-honored statement true: “it is in giving that we receive.”  You are sure to be blessed.

    Week of Prayer for North American Missions – March 29-April 5

    We have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus, taking love throughout the continent and shining light into dark places! We can do this by praying for the lost, giving to Gospel ministries, witnessing to those around us, and reaching out in compassion. March 29-April 5 is a Week of Prayer for North American Missions. You can pick up a prayer guide at the church to help direct you as you pray. These missionaries in the prayer guide represent thousands more who benefit from your prayers and sacrificial giving. Then on Sunday, April 5 we will be taking a special offering for the Annie Armstrong Offering – all the money given to this offering goes towards North American Missionaries.

    Loaves and Fishes – April 21

    Every month different groups from our church act as the hands and feet of Christ by providing dinner one night for Loaves and Fishes Homeless Ministry. We are in need of a group to bring dinner on Tuesday, April 21. Would your Bible study group be willing to serve that night?  Contact Gloria or Andrew or call the church office if you’d like to sign up for that night or if you have questions.

  • A Word From Pastor Zach – Vol. 60, No. 05

    I remember that first night in Mangodara in the southern part of Burkina Faso. We had traveled 9 hours from the capital city, Ouagadougou. Much of the final few hours of the trip were navigated on “roads” that needed four wheel drive. Mangodara was a town of over 5,000 people, but there was no running water and no electricity. The “hotel” we were staying in was a cement building with metal doors (termites would eat anything wood). Our small group of 6 men was split into two groups and all I remember about that first night was how hot it was. I wanted to leave the door open to hopefully get a breeze going, but I was worried about snakes, spiders, mosquitoes, and the fact that we were hours away from any hospital. If something strange bit us, help was a long way away!

    I remember staying up late into the night with two fellow pastors, Tommy and Jason. We were trying to adjust to the time change and the reality that we were out in the African bush. We spent a lot of time in prayer that evening. In the midst of the uneasy feeling that we all had, we found comfort in a prayer found in the book of Ezra. In chapter 8, Ezra is about to lead a ragtag group of peasants and priests on a journey from Persia to Jerusalem. They are carrying a small fortune to beautify the temple and buy sacrifices, and Ezra becomes worried about safety. So he prays that God would protect his group and provide them with a safe journey.

    We turned to Ezra’s prayer that night. We knew the people group we were visiting, the Doghosie, needed to hear the Gospel. We knew the risk was worth it. However, we found great comfort in echoing Ezra’s prayer for safety.

    In the world we live in today, with the coronavirus spreading and the rise of violence, advancing the Gospel mission can seem daunting. However, I think Ezra gives us a model for how to approach an uncertain world. Ezra prayed for God’s protection and safety, and then Ezra continued on the journey in which he knew God had called him. In the same way, we pray for safety, and we continue living out the calling that God has given us.

    After staying up late into the night praying, I remember the peace of God that washed over us in Mangodara. We realized there was going to be some level of danger being out so far in the bush, but God was gracious to give us peace. We knew that God had called us to share the Gospel with the Doghosie people. Ezra’s prayer was a great model for us and encouraged us during our trip.

    As we think about the global missions mandate that God has placed on our church, please join me in praying for our missions teams going to Mexico in April and the Dominican Republic this summer. Join me in praying Ezra’s prayer for our global missions teams, and for our teams going to North Carolina and Windermere as well.

    In the midst of uncertainty, it is comforting to know that “the hand of our God is gracious to all who seek him” (Ezra 8:22).

  • A Word From Pastor Zach – Vol. 60, No. 04

    Leadership

    Leadership guru John Maxwell is known for saying, “Everything rises and falls on leadership.” As we take a journey as a church through the book of Nehemiah this spring, we will see the reality of the quote played out before us. Nehemiah was truly a leader. He was able to rally the people of Israel to a common cause and was incredibly collaborative and empowering. He was a strategic leader who planned well and was able to make key decisions with wisdom and discernment. He wasn’t afraid to step out and take risks to do what he knew God was calling him to do.

    However, while all of those things are true about the different aspects of Nehemiah’s leadership acumen, there is one thing that really stands out. Nehemiah was a godly leader. He prayed constantly and consistently. He understood that he was completely reliant on God to work in and through him. There are definitely universal leadership principles one can glean from Nehemiah’s life. For the Christian though, we should see the direct correlation of his leadership success with his commitment to the Lord.

    Disciple Now

    Speaking of leadership, we have a few things coming up in the life of our church that will promote godly servant leadership development. On March 6-8, we will be having our annual Disciple Now weekend for our youth. This is a weekend where our students will be challenged to grow in their capacity as servant leaders as they study God’s Word together and go out and do mission projects and live out their faith. Two other churches are joining up with our students in what is going to be an incredible weekend.

    Please pray for Kyle and our many volunteer leaders as they serve that weekend. Pray for the college students and young adults who are stepping in to lead different groups of kids. Pray for the host families that are opening up their homes for teenagers for the entire weekend. Also, pray that God will raise up Nehemiahs in our student ministry who will be godly servant leaders to their generation. We know that Gen Z students desperately need the Gospel! Pray that this weekend would ignite a movement in our youth.

    Deacon Nominations

    Also, we are accepting nominations for new deacons here at Fee Fee. In this edition of the Forerunner you will find a summary of the qualifications and expectations of deacons. The full recommendation form can be found outside the Media Center. If you feel led, we’d love for you to nominate a man that you feel meets those qualifications and could be an exemplary servant leader to our church. Deacons hold a vitally important role as servant leaders here at Fee Fee. Please join us in praying that God will raise up men to lead through service here at FFBC.

  • Chi Alpha News – Vol. 60, No. 04

    DNOW 2020

    DNOW is just a few days away! This year’s Disciple Now Weekend will be taking place March 6-8. In case you don’t know what DNOW is, it is our weekend long local retreat for 6th-12th graders where they will be split up into small groups for the weekend and dive deep into our theme this year called “Prodigal.” This theme will take us into the parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15 where we will explore the stories of the three main characters, then wrap up by learning how we can come home. This weekend will be led in worship by a collection of past and present MoBap students, including Guy Shaw, and our speaker Leon Douglas. We are also blessed to be joined by students from Chesterfield Community Church and Hazelwood Baptist Church this year! We hope that you will join us and that you will invite your friends! Be praying for our students and leaders as we prepare for this amazing Gospel-filled weekend!

    DNOW Host Homes & Meal Sponsors

    We would not be able to put on this amazing DNOW weekend without your help, Church, so here’s how you can volunteer to serve our students! We need groups to sponsor meals for our students for the weekend! If you are interested in this, all you would need to do is cook two meals – breakfast and dinner – and deliver it to a Host Home! You can team up with your Small Group, Transformation Group, or Bible Study to partner with us!   • Bible Study Corner – Vol. 60, No. 04

    We are about to finish our Bible Study lessons on how we can achieve our mission statement. I hope you have enjoyed discussing the markers which help us build our lives on Jesus and pursue the good of our community for the glory of God.

    We will resume studying our regular Bible Study materials on Sunday, March 1 at 9:45 a.m.  If you are unsure how to get plugged in, stop by the Welcome Center and we would love to help you find the perfect place.

    Ministry Opportunities

    Windermere Mission Trip

    If you missed our Windermere Mission Trip info meeting but are still interested in the trip, we’d still love to have you serve alongside us! The trip will be July 12-17, 2020.  We will be serving during mealtime for their campers – serving food, cleaning dishes, cleaning the tables, etc. All ages are welcome to go on the trip (children must be accompanied by a parent). There is no cost for the trip. If you have questions or if you want to be a part of the trip, contact Deb Alcorn (qmeryen@yahoo.com or 314-952-3061). The deadline to sign up for the trip is Sunday, April 5.

     Wheels for the World Trivia Night

    Join us on Saturday, March 14, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. for a night of trivia, prizes, a silent auction, and lots of fun and food! The cost is only $80 for a table of 8. Proceeds benefit the Wheels for the World Mexico Mission trip.  Wheels for the World is a branch of Joni & Friends which strives to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the disabled around the world by providing wheelchairs and sharing the love of Jesus Christ.     Friendship Choir is Back

    We need YOU in our Friendship Choir! Ministering mainly to residents in nursing homes and retirement centers, our traveling choir seeks to share joy and encouragement through songs of inspiration wherever we go. Please consider joining us in this ministry. Rehearsal is on Monday evenings from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m.

    Palm Sunday Choir

    Our Sunday choir is once again doing an extended program of music during our 8:30 a.m. worship on Palm Sunday, April 5. The music in this mini-musical consists of powerful worship songs to celebrate the journey of Christ. We are practicing this music on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:00 p.m.  Please join us in this special presentation that leads up to culmination of Resurrection Sunday.

    The Daily Song of the Levitical Choir

    Recently I have become intrigued by the intense training, duties, and ministry of the Levitical musicians. It may be of interest to many of you to know about the daily song of the Levitical Choir. Although the Levites sang upon many occasions in the Holy Temple, one of their most important and basic musical tasks was the daily song. Each day the Levite choir stood on the platform and sang a special song for that particular day. All these songs with their instrumental arrangements were performed while the morning and evening wine libations were poured out on the altar by the officiating priests. Each day during the wine libation, the overseer of the choir stood above one of the horns of the altar and signaled to the Levites with a kerchief in his hand to begin their song. At three points in their song, they would pause, when the priests would sound the silver trumpets and all the people in the court would lay prostrate before the Presence of God. On each day of the week, the songs, a different Psalm daily, represented the events of the six days of creation. Obviously, the choir was a busy one – singing daily!
