  • Family Front – Vol. 60, No. 19

    Baptisms

    It was a great day Sunday to get to see two of our children baptized. What a testimony those two young ladies have as they expressed, through baptism, that they had already turned their lives over to Jesus. Church, it is our responsibility to walk alongside their parents as they disciple those young ladies.

    AWANA

    We were so excited to get to start AWANA again and have our kids in the building on Wednesday nights. Join us in the gym from 6:00-7:00 p.m. if you have kids or if you want a place to serve.

    KidsZone

    We have also begun KidsZone in the gym on Sundays during the 11:00 a.m. service. I am thankful for Kyle and Scarlet Kalkbrenner, our interns, who are leading this for our kids. We will do our best to adhere to social distancing guidelines as we meet during all of these kids’ events. We also have preschool care for the 11:00 a.m. service as well.

    Just a reminder, for now, there are still weekly Bible lessons for kids on our church website that you can use at home. You can find these lessons on our website, then click on the KidsZone page.

  • Prime Time – Vol. 60, No. 19

    Pack a lunch and join us at Hellebusch Park on Thursday, October 1, for lunch and games. Bring your favorite game. I promise a beautiful day, in a beautiful setting with good friends and good times.

    We will gather at 11:30 a.m. for lunch. Bring a friend or two that needs to get out of the house. We can wear masks and practice social distancing.

    Hellebusch Park is a Bridgeton park just down the street from church off of Fee Fee Road at 11408 Oak Ave.  If you don’t want to play games, there is a small lake for fishing, and a walking path around the park. Hope to see you there!

  • Community Connection – Vol. 60, No. 19

    Blood Drive, October 1-2

    On Thursday and Friday, October 1-2 from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. we will be hosting another blood drive. In order to comply with social distancing restrictions, all donations MUST be scheduled ahead of time. You can go to the Red Cross website (www.redcrossblood.org) and use the Sponsor Code “FeeFeeBaptistBridgeton” or search by zip code and date to find our drive. Then schedule your donation for a specific time one of those days. You can also call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to schedule your donation. The drive will be held in the Family Life Center. Everyone donating can drive around to the back of the church and park in the lot by the gym and enter through the gym doors. On the blood drive page on the church website you can find some helpful info about donating, including who can donate and how to donate.      Church Workday, October 3

    Join us on Saturday, October 3 from 8:00 a.m. until noon to help us beautify our campus! Normally each spring we have a church workday however this year it got pushed back to the fall. We will be pulling weeds, laying out mulch, and general yard work, so bring a good set of work gloves. Unfortunately, we’re not offering coffee and donuts this year, but we will have a good time and make our campus beautiful!

    Mobile Markets Through December

    St. Louis Area Foodbank has realized that the food struggles, unfortunately, are not going away anytime soon.  In light of that they have scheduled Mobile Markets through the end of the year. Our upcoming Mobile Markets are the following dates (Mondays):

    We will distribute food from 10:00 a.m. until noon (or whenever we run out of food). Anyone is welcome to come and receive the free groceries in a contactless, drive-thru format. If you are interested in serving at a Mobile Market and you have never done so before, please contact Andrew (andrew@feefeebc.org) to get on the schedule.

  • Bible Study Corner – Vol. 60, No. 19

    If you are comfortable, please join a men’s or women’s, youth or children’s Bible Study on Wednesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There is something for everyone.

    The men’s fraternity is meeting in B4.

    The women are studying the Patriarchs by Beth Moore in C112. This study is also available on Zoom. Send Gloria your email if you would like to join virtually.

    Youth and Children’s Bible Studies are detailed under the appropriate section of the Forerunner.

    You can also attend an in-person Bible Study on Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m.

    The international class is meeting in B4. Adult 5 is meeting in the Dining Room and is led by Dave and Donna Potts. Doug Monasmith is leading a study of Genesis in the Chapel.  And Gloria Fox is taking a look at the Jewishness of Jesus and how understanding this enriches the scripture.

    Ms. Ruth Thoma - Receptionist/Education Secretary Best Wishes

    It is with bittersweet tidings that we say farewell to a dear staff member. Our beloved Ruth Thoma, who is Pastor’s Secretary and Education Secretary, will be retiring at the end of September. Ruth started working at Fee Fee back in 2001 and has faithfully served alongside many of our ministers over the years in various ways. We will be honoring Ruth on Sunday, September 20 in both services.

    Job Posting

    Fee Fee Cemetery is hiring a Cemetery Manager position. The Cemetery Manager is the primary point of contact, performing coordination and administrative tasks, along with some light/moderate physical work. This is a permanent, part-time position with the ability to work remotely some of the time. Work schedule will vary based on need and circumstances. If interested, contact (314) 739-2415.

     

  • Chi Alpha News – Vol. 60, No. 18

    After School Study Program

    Starting Tuesday, September 8, we will be offering an opportunity for all of our Chi Alpha students to come up to the church and get some serious studying done. With school being moved to an online format for the majority of our students, it is so important to keep some social interactions available for them. We will have a few leaders and volunteers at the church to offer students some extra help with schoolwork and give encouragement to those who may need it. We will be meeting every Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the gym and students can come and go as they please. Make sure they take advantage of this awesome opportunity to study in a different setting, but also continue to build great community together!

  • Music Musings – Vol. 60, No. 18

    Christmas 2020 at Fee Fee – Thoughts and Considerations

    It is that time of year when we start thinking about celebrating Christmas here at Fee Fee! It is safe to say our celebration will look quite different this year, but we still want to give our best shot to create a joyous and meaningful event to honor the birth of our great Savior.

    A survey was recently sent to our 2019 Christmas choir to find out participation interest for this year. Here are the results of that survey:

    • 14 would participate in a virtual choir
    • 13 would sing in a small ensemble (8 or less safely distanced)
    • 15 would sing in a larger ensemble (8-12 safely distanced)
    • All others would not be comfortable participating this year

    At this time, I am asking for a response from our extended church family if you would be willing to sing in a small/large ensemble OR virtual choir setting. You may send information to tara@feefeebc.org to indicate which group you would be interested.

    We would also like to hear from those of you who would contribute in other ways. We always need technicians, ushers, greeters, decorators, costumers, etc. Please let us know in what capacity you could volunteer your talents. You may come up with an avenue of service that would be completely new to our production! As always, thank you for considering and I look forward to hearing from you.

    The Joy of Music

    “David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their fellow Levites as musicians to make a joyful sound with musical instruments, harps and cymbals,” (1 Chronicles 16:16).

    Music is a vital part of our lives. Music blesses us through hard times and good times. If we were to try and explain music to an alien from another world we would probably fail miserably. Music is not meant to be explained, but rather experienced. There are times when music can express what we feel when words fail us. Music is poetry put to rhythm. It is a rhyme put to a steady beat. This gift from God is a power that moves and stirs the soul. Music can be therapeutic, lifting us when we are down. Through music we lift our voices to God in praise and worship. Those who suffer affliction are wounded souls. Music can be a perfect salve for the sorrowful soul. Lift your soul with music. Let it carry your praises and appreciation to God even in times of uncertainty.

  • Family Front – Vol. 60, No. 18

    AWANA Club

    September 9 will be our first AWANA Club for the 2020-2021 season. We have missed our kids so much! We will start this new year with AWANA Awards celebrating the work the kids and leaders did last year before COVID moved us to dismiss early. Join us in the gym from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. for this celebration. After that we will have a scaled down AWANA Club every Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. We could use some additional helpers as you feel led to return to the church building.

    KidsZone

    We have also restarted KidsZone on Sunday mornings during the 11:00 a.m. service and will be in the gym. Parents can drop off and pick up kids there.     Be Strong and Courageous

    “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go… Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go,” Joshua 1:7, 9.

    Joshua was leading a great multitude of people getting ready to go into the Promised Land and take possession through battle. Whatever you are preparing to take possession of (family concerns, school for kids, work, etc.), God promises to be with you through the battle. Take courage! There is a Promised Land on the other side of this pandemic! Wait and see how God will hold you in the midst of it!

  • Prime Time – Vol. 60, No. 18

    By the time you read this addition of the Forerunner, we will know whether or not my experiment of getting you together for fellowship and a movie at the church has been a great success or a total flop. Judging by the number of you who have contacted me to let me know you are coming; I’m going with the latter.

    During one of our recent prayer times, I talked to you about having real joy in all circumstances based on James 1:2-4. I would like to continue helping us think through how to accomplish this joy by quoting John North’s devotional which is based on one of our favorite verses, Romans 8:28. He writes:

    “God is using every circumstance in our lives to shape us and use us for His purpose! It can be hard to accept the idea of God using ‘all things’ in this way. We know that God uses His word to renew our minds and transform us. We can accept that God uses our fellowship with other believers in this way. His blessings in our lives assure us of His loving care for us. However, there are still those times, when we say to ourselves, ‘but, does God really mean we can find joy in all things’?

    Yes! … He does!

    Now, this doesn’t mean that God is pleased with all things. God does grieve when we bear the brunt of someone else’s sin. He is angry when a drunk driver slams into the car of someone we love. Our God knows, from His own experience on the cross, what the physical and emotional pain we experience feels like. God loves us through all of our experiences. He grieves and groans along with us.

    We know that God is on His throne. He reigns over all things and overrules evil. He has a purpose and He is able to use the fallen, the evil, and even the senseless things to accomplish His good purpose in the world and in our lives.  This means that we can embrace any circumstance we find ourselves in, whether good or bad, as God’s opportunity for us to grow and minister in His name to others!”

  • Bible Study Corner – Vol. 60, No. 18

    Let me know if you would like to attend a Bible Study but are unsure of the schedule. We currently have three socially distanced Bible Study classes meeting in person on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. Simply make your one-time reservation at feefeebc.org/socially-distanced-bible-study/

    Virtual classes are also still being offered.
