August is going to be a busy month for Senior Adult ministry.

Saturday, August 1, from 9am until noon is our church-wide FREE garage sale on the parking lot. We give away gently used items to our community as well as backpacks with school supplies to the school-aged kids.

If you plan to give away your stuff at the FREE Garage Sale, we ask that you stay with your table and greet our neighbors and invite them to church. Then pack up anything left over and haul it away. Thanks for being part of greeting our community.

August 10-13 is our Senior Adult VBS. Ron Zamkus will be leading “Authentic Fruitful Faith” out of 1 John. We will meet from 9:30 – 12noon including a snack break. Sign up in the café if you plan to attend. There is no cost for this event.

August 26 we are headin’ to Casey Illinois to see “Big Things Small Town.” There are 38 items that are ‘BIG’ and others that are ‘Certified World’s Largest.’ We will leave church at 9:30am and enjoy lunch together there and then see the sights. We will return by 4pm.

And as always, invite a friend to attend these events with us. You (and they) will be glad you did!

Here are events for July:

On July 1^st, the bus will leave at 4pm for dinner at Rigazzi’s on the Hill then to  concert at Mo. Botanical Gardens. You will need to bring a lawn chair or blanket, bug spray and a drink if you want. The band is the US Air Force Band of Mid-America. Concert is from 7-9pm and it’s free. Check the café for sign up list and other info.

July 29 we will meet at the church at 10am to pack school supplies into backpacks for our school supply/backpack giveaway on August 1. After we finish packing the backpacks on the 29th, we will go to lunch. I hope you will be part of the Free garage sale on our parking lot on August 1. It’s a great way to meet our community.

I always look forward to VBS for our seniors. This year a friend of mine, Ron Zamkus, will lead a study of 1 John, ‘Authentic Fruitful Faith,’ August 10-13 from 9:30am -12 each day. It will be a great week to dive deep into God’s Word.

On Wed. August 26 we plan to go to Casey IL to see all of the ‘Big Stuff’ around  town and eat lunch there. Watch for further news on this event.

Psalm 119:15-16 I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your Word.

I’m sorry to say that our planned June 9 Katy Trail Tram trip has been cancelled. It was sold out even before we could get a call in for reservation. So we will try again later (probably will be September).

                  June 19 – Grant’s Farm – leave 10am (lunch there)

July 1 – dinner on the Hill, leave 4pm; Mo Botanical Gardens Concert of the US Air Force Band of Mid-America 7 pm (free to get in at 5:30). Take lawn chair and drinks if you want.

In the month of May we will be experiencing history. May 1 we plan to visit St. Genevieve National Historical Site, museum and welcome center and lunch. We will leave at 10am from church. Signup in the café.

On Wed., May 20 we plan to visit Fort de Chartres in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois to tour an 18th century restored French fort. We will have lunch at Lisa’s Market Street Grille. We plan to leave church at 10am. Sign up in the café.

Summer outings this year:

Tuesday, June 9 we are taking an open-air tram tour on the Katy Trail from St. Charles to Machens to see parts of the Katy Trail most people do not get to see. Buses will leave at 9am for that outing. Deadline to sign up for this event is MAY 4 because it fills up quickly. Sign up sheets are in the café.

We are also looking at a date to visit Grant’s Farm and see the Clydesdales. Look for more info on these outings in a future Forerunner.

Coming up:

(Act on this quickly) Movie: A GREAT AWAKENING is showing Easter weekend at Marcus Theater, St. Charles cinema. Our senior adult group would like to go together on Saturday, April 4. However, the showtimes and ticket sales did not become available until March 27. The time for the showing we will attend is on the sign up sheet in the café. Here is a synopsis of the movie: A Great Awakening tells the true story of an unlikely friendship that resulted in 1 of the most defining moments in American history. In a miraculous turn of events, one of Whitefield’s closest friends and greatest promoters becomes Benjamin Franklin. Franklin discovers true liberty cannot only be written into law – it must be awakened in the hearts of the people.  The first 28 names on the signup list will be able to ride the buses. All others will need to drive themselves. We will plan to get a meal together either before the movie or after depending on the time. Sign up for the bus is in the café.’ Remember to purchase your ticket online now before it’s sold out.

On Monday April 20, we plan to visit and tour our Missouri State Capitol Building in Jefferson City, MO. It is worth seeing! We plan to leave church about 8:30am and return about 4:30pm. Lunch will be at a Jefferson City restaurant prior to our reservation for the tour at the capitol. Tour is free.  As always, I enjoy serving with you!

n the month of February, your senior adult group served 2 local places. We collected items for our neighbors at the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home. Thank you church for your generosity! We also met on Feb. 12 and made and delivered Valentines for Bentley’s, a local assisted living home. It was a nice connection as we spoke with people there.

Monday, March 9 we are travelling east on Route 66 to see the largest catsup bottle in America in Collinsville IL and a small historic town of Hamel IL for historic Wayside Marker and lunch at Weezy’s. On March 26 (NOT March 30 as was previously printed) we are taking a trip to Perryville MO to see the Missouri National Veterans Memorial. Other potential outings may include: Katy Trail trolley tour and Warm Springs Ranch (Clydesdales) in Boonville. In September, we are planning a 5-day trip to Gatlinburg TN for Jubilee Celebration.

Your Senior group is going and growing! If you haven’t participated in any event with this group, it’s time for you to check this out; and, of course, bring a friend. February will be project month for our church sponsored by our senior adults. I hope you will come join us for these two ministry opportunities in our community.

The month of February we will be collecting items for our neighbor, the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home. This is a WHITE OUT SHOWER. Bring white items to support the work of MBCH. Here is the list: paper towels, dinner napkins, facial tissue, toilet tissue, cotton balls, Q-tips, kitchen linens/bath linens, sheets and pillowcases (twin size), and laundry detergent. Please bring items to the church collection area by

Feb. 22. The senior adults will deliver them that week. Thank you for your generous giving.

Feb. 12 we will make valentines for a local senior living place starting at 10am. Come and help us minister to those like us! We will provide the craft supplies to make the valentines. Then we will eat lunch together. Please sign up in the café so we know how much lunch to provide. There is no cost for this lunch.

This time of year is so beautiful! I do enjoy the changing of the seasons! Fall is such a beautiful time of year. I’m so thankful we have such a creative creator! I am also loving hanging out with the Senior Adults and being their director. What a fun bunch! If you haven’t been part of this fellowship, please come with us. Thursday December 11 is our next outing to see Christmas lights. We will leave church at 4pm and eat lunch then drive through the WAY OF LIGHTS at Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville IL. All you will need to pay for is your meal. Sign up in the café so we will know how many buses to take. Watch for other info on events in the new year (Chess Hall of Fame, 2 projects for MO Baptist Children’s Home and St. Andrew’s senior center, and much more).

Fall is such a beautiful time of year. Your Senior Adults are out and about in fellowship and ministry and, almost always, great food! See below November and December events:

November 12 – Pere Marquette Lodge/lunch, leave at 10am. This is family style meal but each person will pay for their portion.

November 14 – Missouri Baptist University is hosting “White Christmas” performed by the students and Chick-Fil-A lunch. It is $25 for play and lunch. Get to Kathy or Church office by Nov. 2 cash or check made out to Fee Fee Baptist Church. The play is at 9am so bus will leave at 8am. Sounds like a delightful morning together. Sign up in Café if you plan to attend.

December– see the lights and a ministry project (dates TBD)

We usually return between 2-3pm for all events.
